Just after ringing the revenue commision (tax office) as I'm still paying emergency tax and had to get it sorted as its taking about 40% of my income. After searching online for the number I then had to sit and wait for about 6 minutes listening to Frank "your automated assistant" -.- before I was put onto customer services.

This kind of annoyed me, as I had to go away and ring again after I got a number from my boss I had to sit and listen to that plank again....

How do you find automated systems? I dont like them any more (^^,)

Nobody likes the limited structure and direction of a conversation with a machine. Until AI is perfected *which it wont be. I for one will refuse to talk to bits of metal and plastic.

When I saw the title my first thought was yes, I love to swear abuse at my computer. After reading the OP though, I have to say no, they really f**k me off!

I hate them, because they waste my time and anyone who has set them up to call people has no respect for them, or for me.

Don't worry, I thought it was about OUR machines, too.

I just hate it when they put me on a machine for fifteen minutes and charge all that time. Otherwise I don't mind them too much if it's a short wait. When I tried to make a doctor's appointment at Easter I was on the phone for fifteen minutes on hold before hanging up. I phoned again about an hour later, they put me straight through to a receptionist. That kind of baffled me a little bit...

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, for a minute or two I though I must have misread the title, but no... phew.

You know, next time I get some irritating microwave trying to sell me home insurance (or whatever) I'm going to vent all my anger upon it in the vague hope that the call is being monitored. Thanks for the idea. :)

Damn it, now I've realised I'm going to be sat by the phone waiting for the elusive call just to beat one of my parents to it.
There's only two things wrong with my plan:
1) The weather is stunning.
2) I have a genuine hated of the phone.

Mmm, what to do...?

Haha ya I did that actually, I read out my pps number and I got

"That doesnt sound like a pps number are you sure you have the right number"

I started f*ing the machine out of it and then realised the call was recorded hehe

I used to work for a shop where we repaired... pretty much anything but mostly 'tools' in the broadest term. We would have often have to order parts from various companies for things. It was like 40% of the job. It's amazing how many of these companies have like a homemaker with a computer answering the phone. You can hear the dogs and kids screaming in the background.

Once, my coworker was on hold for 20 minutes and then told he called the wrong department and had to hang up and try again he messed with the automated system for about 20 minutes or so after being put on hold for another 15 minutes. When they picked up they told him he should talk to the department he called first.
He then completely freaked balls and threw the phone across the shop and hit it with a large sledgehammer. He then went on his lunch break.

I do not talk to machines. Not even answering machines of friends. If i am not important enough to talk to, bad for them.

I often will make jokes about what they say.
>_> but I usually play half life while I wait or something, then again if I am no where near my computer I'll give the phone to someone else.
TA-DAH! Automaticly someone elses problem.
Here take this *hands phone to reader* :3...
