No, honestly, fuck Dutch and it's stupid over-complicated shitty Grammar, English is ten times better. Dutch is still better than German and French mind, it's just a 5/10 compared to the 8/10 English is, it still has some flaws, after all

I like the Dutch language, yes.
It doesn't sound too aggressive or too passive and it doesn't have as many exceptions as English does.
In any case, good luck with your exams, flapdrol :p (How can you loathe a word like that? XD)

I speak English only, and it's one of most spoken ones, so yes I like it a lot.

I don't know how I'd cope if my native language was a really obscure one that only a couple of countries spoke.

My exams are imminent, and I find myself studying for my Dutch exam. In the midst of doing so, I am heavily reminded that I absolutely loathe the Dutch language. Every piece of grammar has its exceptions, and then those have exceptions too... And then even those have exceptions.

So, I ask you in an act of procrastination: Do you like your native language?
How often is English used in Netherlands in casual or business setting as opposed to Dutch?

Although we... scarvenge other languages too (although the only word I can think of it's "Ojala" which comes from an arabic word which means "If god wills it"), spanish is rich and unique on it's own. I believe is easy to learn, but a pain in the ass to master it (I haven't, and I've been speaking it since 1988).

Marioneta de tartufo
Condimento de irrisorios
Contenidos de tu cuerpo
Caracolas de deseos
Salpicada por tus besos
Extranjeros sin retorno

Mascarada de los rieles
Ilusorios de tu ego
Caminitos del oprobio

La ventana desolada
De reflejos sin espejo
En tu rostro va marcada
Más tarde que temprano
En tus manos desoladas
Llegará mi mano ausente
Y serán los fuegos en el cielo
Los que alumbren esa noche
Y tendremos el momento

Volverás por esa senda
Con tu tique en la solapa
Pasajero sin recuerdo
Lloverás sobre tu cuerpo
Marcado por mí paso
Salpicado de deseos

Y serán tus pasos lentos
Con zapatos carcomidos
Los tengan el aliento
Volverás por el camino
Como vuelves todo el tiempo
Tú momento, tú recuerdo

Eres otra marioneta
De tu mente orgullosa
En mi mano te sostengo
Estos hilos los conozco
Enredados en su entuerto
De carrusel encantado

Vueltas, vueltas das oh vida
Yo voy en mi caballito cantando
Siempre vuelve como un cuerpo oh recuerdo

And that's just one damn fine piece of poetry, it may not be Cervantes or Lorca level, but it's pretty damn good.

I like Urdu but the written script is much more difficult than English, making reading and writing Urdu harder.
But one good thing about it is that if you can speak Urdu, you can speak Hindi(writing is different because Hindi is in Sanskrit script while Urdu uses Arabic script) as well and you can also understand a bit of Arabic and Farsi(Persian) as well as Punjabi. This is because Urdu is a mix of all these languages.
Also I can tell you that the Urdu/Hindi in Age of Empires The Asian Dynasties is mostly flawed.

Meh, I don't mind Bulgarian. It's not terribly useful but I wouldn't condemn it for that. Although, I wouldn't recommend people learning it - it's not terribly useful, as I said[footnote]unless you go to Bulgaria, but WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?[/footnote] and it takes some effort to learn. Yeah, chairs have genders, deal with it (they are masculine, by the way). Also, the dog is an "it" but the cat is a "she" - you'll probably get annoyed with that stuff quickly. Not as annoying as German, though.

I absolutely detest Maltese. Between the over complicated grammar, the redundant letters and the bastardization of proper English words, it's easily one of the worst languages ever created.
The only thing it's good for is coming up with creative swears and different ways of insulting someone's family/private parts/both at the same time.
And none of you have ever heard of it. You lucky bastards...

Well, not particularly, I'm rather ambivalent towards the english language. I would enjoy it if the grammatical structure was a little less archaic and labyrinthine, but it does it's job alright.

Sure I sometime like how cantonese is spoken by some women but I am absolutely terrible trying to speak it at all and don't get me started with the writings (I cannot write it out properly to saved my life).

Well English is the only language I speak, so yeah, I like it.

It certainly makes getting things a lot easier.

Ever tried to order a meal via charades?

You rarely get what you want.

Seriously though, English is a a very malleable language.

You can mix and match a lot of things that just aren't possible with other languages.

That should be a satisfactory explanation as to why I agree with you.

It's alright, English. I'm glad I don't speak one of those wacky Scandinavian languages that's impossible to take seriously, Swedish and Dutch being the worst offenders.

I love the Welsh language. I can speak it in Wales and not worry about people knowing what I'm talking about because they don't understand.

English is OK too I guess.

I like english, to an extent. The grammar and small tidbits of it are horrible. I can't count how many years I'd have taken grammar and still be wrong in a lesson because "That word is being a verb there." The only reason I can put together fluent sentences with any sort of structure is because it is second nature to me. I took two years of Spanish/Español in middle school/junior high. I was told the credits would carry over but they did not and now I have to take another language. Spanish was nice but I wasn't taught correctly so I could barely get out a sentence. This past year I was supposed to take Italian but the school dropped it. So now I must choose between Mandarin Chinese, French, or Spanish. At least I can use French to impress women.

Well, Canadian English is still English. It's great in the sense that English is a nearly global language to many extents. It may not be exotic, but it is useful.

And when I want something a little more exotic, I turn to Canada's other official language, French. I actually quite like French and am trying to finally pick up where my non-French Immersion schooling left off on the subject.

So, to answer the topic, do I like my native language? Yes, both of them.
