Is usually a combination of strange noises and half made-up words tbh, more about tone than legible human speak, like vibe checks basically. Though if people around, have to begrudgingly restrict self to human communication to not scare them away. am not crazy! not since the meds kicked in anyway.

I dont use gibberish or half speak, but I do straight up talk to my little guy as if he's a full human who understands english. No half measures, full sentences, questions, answers. And he's very expressive so he tries his best to communicate back and he's smart enough to know certain words and phrases, so the communication is very two-way.

No I treat my cat like an adult and they act like a rebellious teen.

No, just normal voice. I use a different voice for his speaking parts/impressions of him. A bit like a cross between Pluto and Lemmings when you blow them up.

Yup. Proudly. At least when he's behaving or just acting like a cat in ways I can appreciate. I bring out the big boy voice when he jumps on the counter or into the Christmas tree.

I don't understand how the votes are tied. It's like talking to babies, it's just not possible to use your normal voice.

Sometimes, when we're playing, or he comes to greet me after I'd been out an eternity (or an hour tops in real time), or prepping to go for a walk, I do the high-pitched "Who's a good boy? You are! Yes!" or "Are we going walkies? Do you want walkies?" thing.

Does anybody not do this?
They probably aren’t human.

But really, our cat usually just slow blinks and walks away. Interesting fact (apparently) that maybe is well known, cats meow to mimic a crying baby when they want something.

Funny you mention that, when my cousin had her kids I was noted as being someone who didnt use a baby voice and just spoke to them normally. The little ones actually paid a lot of attention as it was something new.

Only slightly related, but if the dog is outside the room and I want to close the door but he won't come in, I hide behind the door and say "where am I?" and he comes to find me, which means I can shut the door. The look of disgust on his face that I keep getting lost behind a door in my own house though.
