Public displays of affection, for those unfamiliar with the abbreviation. A lot of people can find it obnoxious, but can seem to think that there is a large grey area with it too.

So I'm asking all my wonderful friends at The Escapist, what do you think of PDA? Do you think that the location of the "Public" matters? Like in a bar, or a dance, or a movie theater? Is there an acceptable level of PDA? Like a quick kiss before parting is okay, but making out right next to you is obnoxious.

Share your thoughts, and although I doubt I have to say this; please keep it civil :D

location location location. quick kisses is fine, but don't make out where other people are forced to see you. It's fricking obnoxious.

Well, I don't find it offensive. It's kind of depressing to me, to the extent that it's just one more reminder of how long I've been single... but I don't feel like that's a good reason for me to try and get in the way of two people expressing their feelings for one another.

I find it obnoxious, but not offensive. It bugs me, but it doesn't disturb me in any really deep way.

PDA becomes obnoxious when it stops being just a quick peck and hand squeeze and turns into a public makeout session.

EDIT: Location does matter, yes. Back of the theater, in a cranny away from public eyes and such places don't bother me because I had to go over there to see it.

It's two people expressing their love for one another by way of kissing. I have no objections with that.

My first experience of that was in a cinema a year or so ago. I was sitting next to one of my best friends with a girl who (I was then ignorant of the fact of) was his girlfriend, though very early days.

Me: (having seen something awesome onscreen and turning around) Dude, did you see th-Ohhhhhh.

I diverted my gaze from the sucking of face. [sub][sub]it almost rhymes! 8D[/sub][/sub]

But no, I have no problems with it.

Only if they do it just for the sake of showing everyone. I don't have a problem with people expressing their love in public, but it annoys me a little when it's just attention whoring.
