Do you recommend FFIX?

If you're using a less powerful system, I'd actually recommend FF6 (FF3 American) as similar to FF7 (in that it's Steampunk). Of course, the graphics are significantly less nice due to it being a SNES game.

Woah, woah, woah wait just one cottan picking minuite, did you just claim that FFVI than VII has worse graphics simply by the virtue of it being on the SNES?!

Go to hell to be quite frank, that is the kind of graphic whoring nonsense that is ruining the games industry.

About the only people that will say no are the blind JRPG/Final Fantasy hating jerks that 9/10 never even played it.

WOULD I RECCOMEND IT!?!?!?! DOES THE POPE SHIT IN THE WOODS?! It's not as dark as 7 but as a game it is effing genius. My second favourite in the series and an absolute MUST PLAY!

Back to the topic...

I'd get IX just for the side questing and card-mini game alone!! It is an awesome game! Its a lot more charming than XIII as well! And having characters with set classes worked better for me, you still have choice over the abilities, but I preferred my characters to have a particular job, not just a bunch of empty shells in which I could do what I want!!

I generally tout FFIX as the best Final Fantasy game, closely followed by FFVI. It's an excellent title, the main character is NOT a whiny mama's boy, it's got some fun and inventive mechanics and some engaging characters who actually grow throughout the story, interesting mini-games, fun turn-based battle...do this for yourself.
