I often wonder how many of our senior citizens these days find great pleasure in current video games. I'm 32 years old and I have been gaming since the Atari 2600 .... AND, do you see yourself playing video games when you are over the hill?
I´m 31. My dad taught me to play donkey kong and frogger when I was 3 years old. At 62 years now, he is still a gamer. His system is certainly up to date and though he doesnt play shooters because he says he lacks the reflexes in his old age, he is still very fond of games like Civilization IV, Fallout 3, Dragon Age and has played most of the major mmorpgs out there such as WoW, EVE, Lord of the Rings online etc.

I really hope I will be, seems like a great way to keep my mind active.
To expand on that point I have come across studies that suggest gaming helps to prevent cognitive decline and delay or prevent Alzheimer's disease.

They would have to mature a great deal, and start catering those who are patient and appeal to things more complex.
There are already loads of games like that.

I see myself 95 years old in a nursing home playing 3D video games through my OLED rap-around HDTV glasses with motion sensors attached to my fingers, while my bedpan is being changed by a hot 19 year old.

My last words will be "Game Over."

Well, even more so. Mainstream gaming is still all about the, quite frankly, immature blood-fests, big tits, and over-the-top plots. One would have to pay a considerable amount of attention to gaming in general, especially at an older age, to keep track of the mature games.

I mean, you have to slog through quite a bit of crap to get to what you want in gaming. Not to mention, the community generally sucks pretty bad. If it's not a really young angsty teen bitching you out for asking a question, it's just a ridiculous troll. So I can see why the older generation would steer clear of gaming, at this point in time.

There is still quite a long road ahead for the maturation of gaming.
