Do you seek help?

Being the passive-aggressive person that I am whom lacks trust in others, I do not actively seek help for my problems. This gets me wondering, how often do other people seek help for their problems and how do they do so?

This also gets me wondering, why do people feel the need to ask for help for things they can do themselves?

Because sometimes you need encouragement to go through with something. For example, I like the /g/ board of gurochan and actually have a folder of images on my computer. However I would like to not enjoy it and though I can decide to not go there and enjoy myself I think I would need encouragement from my counselor (who also happens to be my pastor). I just don't have the willpower to do it myself.

Not really. I try to make it obvious I need help...though its usually not until I have a breakdown does anyone do anything. This is very evident by last teusday when a group I go to for help (that I started going to after I had a breakdown with my grandmother) pissed me off for ingoring what we were there for that I basically freaked out on them. After that is when they decided to give me more personal aid.

I don't ask for help. Mainly because I'm afraid they will say no or laugh. So I try an work things out for myself.

I don't ask for help. My problems are not yours. However, I will accept help if it's offered.

Maybe yes, maybe no. If this is important or time consuming in a tedious manner or there is a time limit concerning it, I'd think of help. I was getting a new suit for my sister's wedding and couldn't find what I wanted. What do you think happened? I didn't feel like wasting an hour looking. I asked for someone to assist me and do what had to be done.

Not so much. I've been pretty successful at figuring things out on my own. Mind you, if it's a problem of not having enough hands/manpower/physical capabilities with just me, I'll ask for help pretty quickly. As Clint Eastwood said a few times in a certain movie: "A man's got to know his limitations."

Asking for help is just as practical and useful as using an instruction manual. More in fact, because on the part of the second party, teaching is the best way to remember something.

Why should pride and personal perception factor into how capable and efficiently one can solve a task?
