You think they're expensive over there?! Lemme ask you a question, how much does a pack of 20 cost? In Sunny UK, they cost $5 FFS! So yeah, I'm with you, I only smoke once every so often and only really when I'm not the one paying for them (I'll buy alcohol in return... not that it's much cheaper, if at all).

Also, menthol cigarettes, while I disapprove them on a 'manliness' level, I actually prefer them, because I, rather unfortunately because of a prior habit, smoke cigarettes like I smoke my pot... by inhaling and deeply at that. They don't mess up my trachea so much. -_-

Anyway, I gave up smoking (as in regular habitual/chain-smoking) about nine years ago (yeah, started young, finished young) and these days only smoke when I'm socialising (but only in loud places, oddly) or stressed.
Here it costs like $10 for a 25 pack, where I used to live it ranged from $10 to $12 for a 20 pack... Not cheap.

Also, I don't smoke, mainly because it would cut into my food budget, but also because outside of cubans and joints/blunts, I don't wanna smoke anything...

Hmm, not sure if cigar/pipe smoker input is wanted, but this input cant be as useless and annoying as self-righteous
non-smokers spewing their judgmental verbal diarrhea

1. Cigars, usually get cohibas because thats what my cuban friend smuggles in xD Though ill get non-smokers going to cuba to pick me up stuff while theyre there too (usually romeo and julliets). But my brand limitations are usually based on whats available to me.
2. Tried 6ish different brands of cigars in my life, tried about the same for cigarettes.. but i just dont care for tabacco thats been so brutalised. Also tried several kinds of pipe tobbaco
3. I might if i was older and tried most of what there is to try, but too inexperienced to dismiss anything but my favorite yet
4. Question is redundant if the answer to 3 isnt yes.. but variety is undoubtedly fun

I smoke pot. That's not nearly as bad for you. Usually I actually use a vaporizer so there's almost no negative effects.

I guess I don't smoke for the purposes of this poll. Cigarettes are awful. I've yet to meet bad pipe tobacco, though I've heard it exists.

That said, last time I lived with a smoker, she didn't much care what brand of cigarettes she got... truly just an addiction to nicotine.

$17 AU for a pack of 25, thank you very much (and there's not that much difference in Australian and American dollars anymore).

Yes I do smoke. Between 3 and 6 a day. I currently smoke Winfield Menthols.

I have always smoked Winfields. Mostly because I am comfortable asking for them, know their strength system, and because it's too bloody expensive to ask for a new pack of cigs that you might not even like! I remember buying a pack of Winfield Light Blues once, as the stupid vending machine in the pub had nothing lighter... took me months to get rid of them, as I just did not like them.

However, this does not apply to cigars, where I'm more than happy to experiment.

It is true that smokers will find their preferred brand/strength/style of smokes and stick to it... the same as scotch drinkers will have a preferred brand/style of scotch!

I'm totally ok with trying out new stuff. But I don't like gambling with my money on a pack of smokes I might not even like. So I tend to experiment by bumming off of others, and sharing my own.

Don't smoke. Except cigars, possibly. They are a gentlemen's delight.

1. Do you smoke? Okay, so what made you decide on the brand and particular flavor you use?

Cigars when drinking only. Price, density, and flavor.

2. And how many other brands and flavors have you tried?

A few dozen.

3. Is it true that smokers always order the same kind of cigarettes?

Dunno about cigarette smokers but most people have a type of cigar they tend to favor.

4. Why? Isn't it more fun to try something new once in a while?

There is something to be said for consistency. It's one of the reasons fast food chains do so well, if you go to McDonalds in Pennsylvania you know it will be the same as going to McDonalds in South Dakota.

I smoke. There are a couple different brands that I smoke, but I rarely try anything new, and I definitely have my preferred brand. Occasionally I'll smoke Djarum Blacks (cloved cigarettes) (usually if I don't want to smell like cigarette smoke, that's the case right now since someone hit my car and I have to drive a rental). Sometimes I'll buy a pack of Lucky Strikes, but generally it's so that I can remove the tobacco and replace it with other smokeables. They're good for that since they're unfiltered. My favorite though, and if I have the option it's always what I'll smoke, is Camel Menthol Silvers.

As for why I don't go for a variety, and stick mostly with the Menthol Silvers. Well, they're just what I like. Smoking is an addictive behavior, and part of that addiction is that there are certain things you associate with the nicotine high, and you want them when you smoke. You get used to a particular cigarette, and when you do other cigarettes just won't do. That cigarette has the flavors and feels that you want, so it'd be a waste of money to buy anything else. It's not really like food, where you'd get bored of your favorite food if you ate it all the time. For me when I go for a smoke, I'm more interested in being relaxed than I am in being stimulated. My favorite cigarette takes me where I want to go. Why would I buy anything else?

Yes, like a fucking chimney (between 50-80 a day). Dr Pat rolling tobacco and a weekly 25 pack of Stuyvie Reds.

Okay, so what made you decide on the brand and particular flavor you use?
Best combination of flavour, strength and not leaving me lung-fucked I've found.

2. And how many other brands and flavors have you tried?
A metric fuckload.

3. Is it true that smokers always order the same kind of cigarettes?
Regular smokers, yes. Social smokers tend to be more flexible in brand and scabs don't give a fuck as long as they're not paying.

4. Why? Isn't it more fun to try something new once in a while?
Cigarettes are too fucking expensive to piss about experimenting with once you've found something you like.

I don't smoke but I assume smokers chose their brand and etc for the same reason some people drink Coke over Pepsi and, regular over Diet. It isn't like smokers haven't tried other brands and flavors and whatnot but once ya find what you like you tend to stick with it.

-Yes. Started with your standard Marlboro reds and developed a taste of menthol. Now my brand of choice is Camel Menthol.

-I've tried tons of brands but usually when I bum it from someone else.

-Well it's true for me so I'll say yes.

-As to why... uh I don't know I just really like menthol :D

i used to smoke green pretty regularly, but a while after i quit, i tried cigars. i estimated their effect as approximately 100x weaker than green, concluded that their cost/benefit ratio was far too taxing, and condemned them as pointless for the rest of time. haven't smoked anything since.

I smoked when I was in high school. They were generally Marlboros, unless I borrowed one of someone else. I had a good deal of rolled cigarettes, too, during my time smoking. Someone else had to roll them though, 'cause I fucking sucked at it.

Why did I stick with the same brand? Why does anyone stick with the same brand of anything?

1. No, but I used to. Guess my main brand choice was due to the social factor, i.e. I smoked what most of my friends smoked.
2. Must have tried at least a dozen different brands, mostly through bumming smokes off people.
3. Yeah, it very much is.
4. You kinda get conditioned to the taste. There are subtle differences in taste, smell, intensity etc, though they're mostly only noticeable if you're a smoker already; if you're not, it all smells equally vile.

Whilst I don't smoke cigarettes myself, the people I know that do (or did) smoke used to smoke rollies and get Golden Virginia or Amber Leaf (I actually almost wrote Amber Queef, it's what everyone calls it) tobacco. I'm not sure if it's necessarily out of choice though, they'll get what's cheap, and they need it to make spliffs too (which is the whole reason anyone I know started smoking in the first place). People seem to take a liking to Malboro reds though, when they have them.

I've never brought a pack myself, I just occasionally take people up on a offer so I've tried a few brands and they all seem the same to me really. The only one I've found to be better is Malboro but I can't explain why. From what I can tell most smokers stick to one brand though.

Thing is, I don't smoke, and I don't plan to start, so I'm curious about all of this.
1. Yes. What made me decide? Price.
2. Uh, A fucktonne. Cannot really count how many different brands of cig I have tried.
3. Yes. We get used to things.
4. Cause the different baccys taste different. And some of them taste like ass. Also, Price.

Well, that was quick.

1. Yes. Golden Virginia and Marlboro Reds, tried them and liked them more than others. Occasionally smoke Amber Leaf instead of GV when smoking roll-ups.
2. Several. Many that I like, but I enjoy the other two more.
3. Yes and no, while many do stick with the same kind, many also try others. Most quickly find a brand they prefer though.
4. I wouldn't say it's fun exactly but there is some pleasure to be gained in finding a really good smoke. It doesn't really take long to find your favourite though. There's not a huge amount on the market, at least not in the U.K.

Occasionally I'll get some menthol filters or I'll buy these really neat cigarettes that have a little capsule of menthol in the filter that you squeeze and pop, but that's more of a once in a while thing. Me and my mates know it as the menthol madness, when for no real reason you suddenly fancy menthol instead. Tends to pass quickly.

That's fucking priceless! Genius my dear boy! I've honestly never heard that before, only the far less inventive and far less funny Golden Vagina.

I will never smoke, why would I? It's fucking stupid. I personally think smokers are idiots. I have family who smoke and I make it my duty to bug the shit out of them about it in the hope that one day they will quit.

Oh yay mild stress relief that costs Hundreds or maybe over a thousand pounds a year. Not to mention it cripples your health, makes you more unattractive and is hard to drop. Seriously it's one of the things I absolutely hate in this world. Things like smoking and excessive drinking pisses me off. People paying to have irreparable damage done to themselves.

I used to smoke but I quit. I changed my brand twice, didn't like the stronger ones so went for something light.

2. And how many other brands and flavors have you tried?
I've tried about 5 or 6, different friends like different brands so I've asked to try theirs.

3. Is it true that smokers always order the same kind of cigarettes?
Yeah pretty much.

4. Why? Isn't it more fun to try something new once in a while?
Well ciggerrates are pretty expensive in the UK so I wouldn't try something new unless I had tried one from a friend or something. Money down the drain otherwise. I also heard that it's worse for your health if you keep changing brands (not sure if thats bullshit or not though) but mostly its because of the money.

I dont usually smoke tobacco. But when I do, I smoke it in a blueberry cigar like a fucking boss. I'll try different kinds if they sound interesting, but I usually stick to my favorites.
