Depends on how big the difference is. There will be issues, and I'm not even trying to be judgmental. Though I'm not necessarily against it anyway, long as people are legal and consenting. It's just the probability of issues really increases with the age gap.

I'd rather date a girl around my age. no, I wouldn't mind dating an older woman if I enjoyed being with them, but there are plenty of woman my age and I think it does matter to an extent.

anyway. No it doesn't really. Why does love stop if a person is one two or 6 years older or younger. You love the person, why have a silly number get in the way.

I think its based off the idea that the older you get, the wider your range of options.

IF you're 15, you can go from 14-17 in terms of who's actually willing to date you.

If you're 30 then you can go from 20-40 since you're all adults.

For the question in OP I think that age doesn't matter much, but a lot of guys prefer girls younger than them since its been this way for a long time. Not too young though.

OT: I'd say it's a case by case thing, varying from person to person and also from age cohort to age cohort. Heck, I'm a 20 year old college junior, and it's getting to a point where 18 year old college freshmen don't especially interest me physically, because those two years mean the difference between a a teenage girl and a grown woman in many cases. On the other hand, there's cases where a 40 year old married a 20 year old and it turned out fine. I guess what I'm saying is, it depends.

ive been with my man for 8 years and we're getting married on the 18th this month (on our 8th anniversary actually)... he's 10 years older than me..(also no "daddy issues" lol) age means nothing if you get along and have fun together i was 18 and he was 28 when we met.

For me, personally, it matters. I would probably want someone near my age. Although I have very little relationship experience, so I can't say for sure. But generally, the people I'm attracted to are around my age.

For other people, they can do whatever works for them. I don't care.

If you go waaaaaaaay back in time to say The Romans, girls of 12-13 were frequently married off to older men because of their fertility. From a purely anthropological standpoint as long as a lady is able to have children there is no reason why she shouldnt (talking survival of the species here when it was'nt uncommon for Romans to die before reaching 40). Modern socitiy deifies age inapropriate relationships for some reason.

Personaly i stick to the "half my age plus 7" or "half her age -7" rules. (im 24) Anything over or under that just brings about to many problems imo.

Well it really depends on how old you are. 3-4 years may not sound like much when you're talking about people in their 30s, but a freshman in high school dating a senior is rarely a good thing. Hell, I know a girl who's 15 who's involved with a guy that's 20. Seriously dude, if you've gotta go that young, it's probably time to take a step back and wonder what went wrong.

Age totally matters in a relationship most of the time. I mean if your thirty and dating somebody in your early 20's and that person in their early 20's wants to get married well I'm sorry but thats not your guy. Theres the odd one where they just fit so well I wouldnt say anything about it but you have to ask yourself why isnt that 19 year old guy dating hot 19 year old girls instead of my 17 year old friend. It just depends where you are in your life, and how much your willing to sacrfice for a person to be with them.(your entire partying career?)

That depends on what kind of age gap we're talking about here. For example a 2 year age gap like in the OP's case is nothing, but if we're talking like an 80 year old and a 20 year old, that's a more than a little ridiculous.

Hmm, reminds me of Anna Nicole Smith. Wasn't one of her husbands an octogenarian? Or whatever that word is.

If they're both adults, then the age difference should not matter, as long as it's reasonable. But if one of them is not an adult, then at most 2, maybe 3 years difference.

I think there are two instances in which it can matter, and anything else is fine and completely up to the parties involved.

1) When it's illegal. Nothing is more unsettling to me than seeing some 23 year old trying to get into a 14 year old's pants.

2) When a partner's age is held over their head for the benefit of the other party. If a 30 year old and a 17 year old can engage in a healthy relationship, fine, but as soon as the 17 year old's age is used as an excuse to walk all over them, get out. You should be able to respect the other person, regardless of age or experience.

I get older, the cute girls stay the same age. If the Goddess wants to send me a 20-year-old and say "here's the girl of your dreams" I'm not going to complain that she's too young as long as she doesn't complain that I'm too old.

All of my past girlfriends, and my current one, are younger than me, but not by much. A year tops. My parents are ten years apart, my dad being the older of the two. They were married for 18-ish years. So I suppose it doesn't matter a terrible much.

Now, when you get smoking hot young lady plus decrepit old man, then there's something very wrong there. But that's just me.
