Why the hell would he subject himself to an horror like that? Not only does he think that the pussy category of RTS is boring as all hell (pun intended) but making devil and evil into cutesy character in itself would is dumb only for the fact that it detract tho the theme. That or it would be his worst nightmare. Being an standard RTS, the enemies are the RTS (Real thick and slow) meaning that you can take a nap between actions. And, seriously, there's nothing new to the table at this point in time in the serie, so you might as well buy the same one over and over again.

Beside, who the hell are you to make demand to a critic like that. I'm pretty sure your name isn't written on the envelop that contain his freaking salary. How about sending him a copy, a few hundred bucks and picture of you so he know who to murder.

Hey I was just saying that if you want him to review the game too much you might want to do that, it was just a suggestion, as for me mailing it to him, no, I mean I haven't even played one game of the series so why should I care about him reviewing it, although I do have a slight interest on Disgaea it's not enough to make me buy a PS2 just to play it.

Certain people find anything slightly outlandish offensive or not to their taste.
Yahtzee isn't one of those people, truth is he likes it if done right unlike others that may hate it no matter what.
Though that is just based on his reviews.
He would most likely have his hands to full with such a game.
You can have 200+hours and still not fully beat these games truly.
I think he could get half way through(the main story) it at best if he reviewed it.

So you're telling me that it's a Tactics Ogre/Final Fantasy Tactics style game but in real time? Now I'm intrigued, I love those kinds of games and it may be interesting to see how this Real Time thing plays out in that particular style.
Or maybe I got confused because you said RTS and maybe it's really just a normal Turn based strategy RPG, which is not bad since I actually love that style, it sure makes it less appealing than what I thought it was for a moment there, seriously people stop saying RTS to every tactics game there is Real Time Strategy and Turn based Strategy.

...do you see where I'm going with this? That isn't exactly a prestigious award, and I sure as hell wouldn't expect him to review any of the above games. The game just has to hit a certain sales mark (that REALLY isn't that hard to hit) after 2 years after release. And from what I've seen of them, Disgaea is just about as niche as a game can be, to be fair.

OT: Not a chance, unless he hits one hell of a slow-patch and decides he wants to spend an entire episode just ranting about JRPGs, which even as someone who isn't a fan of them, that shtick gets old pretty quick. Then again, so do his rants about "generic shooters" and not acknowledging multiplayer in games that demand it.

RTS mean real time strategy but yeah, that's the Japanese version of it. It's half turn base and half move your all your soldier in at once. Don't blame me, blame Japan.

I have played FFT they only have base similarities.
The story line is comedic, but has it's srs moments.
Disgaea has more to do than FFT more classes,moves,items,etc and a system that has had even more added to it since the first one making it the one of best RTS's and keeping the RTS feel.
The character themselves are not even somewhat alike to FFT characters.
The main protagonist in Disgaea 1 destroys 2 million space battle ships by himself later on (he does it in in about a minute)he destroys planets and the like later on with no effort on his part. He is an anti-hero/hero.

At this point, Disgaea is so alien and impenetrable to non-fans, Yahtzee would probably drink himself into a stupor just regarding the box art. It is unfortunate, but the series can be described as a math nerd's loin meat mixed with a chess fiend's sauce and served in a pretentious Japanophile wrap, then cooked wrong in a Western microwave.

Then again, this hasn't stopped me from clocking in over 100 hours into each title, now has it?

RTS = Real Time Strategy. You know, no breaks. Real time.
It's turn based. You take turns. TBS.

Gears of war is a TPS I think it was haven't played it in forever.
I know what it is. Doesn't mean I won't fall into what people call it anyway.

Yatzee would be confused and bewildered by the initial dialogue scene alone. I don't see him playing more than an hour of this masterpiece.


Even though he liked No More Heroes and "loved" Killer 7 I doubt he'd be predisposed to enjoying the more otaku-side of things in Disgaea.


The gameplay being turn based would drive him insane too, he's the action/shooter type, doesn't seem to enjoy getting the most out of his "numbers".









One thing I don't get though, why is Disgaea suddenly "Japanophile" ? It's a Japanese game. It's just "Japanese", no need to add negative meanings where they're not merited.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no. It's not an RTS. The more accurate term would be a Tactical Turn Based.
