over the holidays i was checking out games i wanted to get in a gamestop. two middle aged women came up to me and asked if i worked there because they needed help. i replied "no, but i know quite a bit about this stuff. what are you looking for?" i wound up helping them find the game her son wanted and reccomending a game for her other son. has this happend to you any of you? i mean i was happy to help and i really enjoyed educating them about the different genres and games to get for their kids, but i found it kind of odd that i was mistaken for an employee while wearing my dirty jeans and "the clash" tshirt.

It happens. It's happened to me several times at both a record store and a bookstore. Guess I spend too much time there.

Nice choice of t-shirt, by the way.

Happens to me all the time in Gamestop. I keep bugging the manager to just put me on the payroll but alas to no avail.

I have been asked many many times if I worked at a Gamestop. I decline, but often help them out anyway, since the Gamestops around me are filled with retards who will no doubt steer this customer the wrong way.

I even went for an interview one day and while asking one of the employees there where the manager was, a customer asked for my help. I said I didn't work there and they asked the other employee, but I responded with a better answer than she did....I didn't get the job.

Now I work at an auto shop and I don't know much about cars, but everyone loves to ask me more than I will ever know...go figure. =P

No, but staff have treated me like I have no idea what I want. I thought it was just because I'm a girl, but maybe I just look like I'm lost. I usually am so they weren't really wrong.

yeah i either get asked if i work there, or the staff acts like i have no idea what i am doing and need my hand held. i guess i just don't "look" like a gamer.

I've noticed that most stores I've been to have a policy to treat women like they're clueless, or attempt to scam them.

No, but once I was asked if I worked at the place where I actually do work. Actually, it was while I was wearing the uniform, so that was kind of odd.

Yes. I told an immigrant at Wall-mart about the PS3 price drop coming in a month and was promptly thrown out by an employee.

Never bothered to walk in that place again.
