Whenever you get an E-mail asking you to do whatever with your account always check the header. Ir it's not an official Blizzard e-mail you can be sure it's a scam.

Fake. I would know as I have received e-mails of this kind from as recently as a few days ago, and I haven't played WoW for a loooooong time (I quit roughly a few months before WotLK came out.)

Got an email today with this:

After clicking on the link it was immediately blocked saying it was unsafe. Personally I don't play World of Warcraft so it was surprising I actually got this email. But I'm sure a lot of people here do. Just wanted people to be aware that what looks to be a scam.
I get a few of those daily. Their just scams.

I get these emails all the time. Most of them wind up in my junk box now. At least they seem more legit than the in game whispers.

It's just a phishing scheme. I get them a lot, I don't even play WoW.

If it provides you with a link it is, more often than not, a phishing scam. In fact if it's from "Blizzard" it's usually a phishing scam.

It's either a scam, or someone's got access to your account.
i get these emails all the time, but what really dumbfounds me is that they keep sending them to the email address which i no longer use for battle.net services. in short, if you want to be sure, just go to the regular battle.net outside of the link, and check there. thats what ive done and nothing bad happens, and my ocd and paranoia are satisfied.

Yeah I started getting those when I was about in sophomore year of high school. I only started playing WoW about a year or two later haha.
As some side advice, I ignore most emails that say they're from Blizzard, and if it seems slightly legit, just give the customer service reps a call and they can tell you if you need to worry or not.

It's a scammer. They want you to go to the link and have you type in your info blah blah blah steal info blah blah blah. I get tremendous amounts of spam from it even though my account has been inactive for months. Making me regret playing wow.

Crazy yo. I haven't even played WoW in over a year but I've also been getting these. I figured it was fake before, but the fact that we've all gotten the same exact basic message (even those who don't play) is a pretty blaring sign that it's a scam.

In any good email tool you can put the cursor over the link and see hwre it leads to without clicking it. In the past, if the link didn't start with www.blizzard... then it's a scam, but modern techniques exploiting subdomains can actually made a link starting with www.blizzard... that have nothing to do with blizzard's site.

Best solution? Never click on link in emails, ever. If you think you have a problem with your WoW account (or your PayPal account, VISA card, whatever) manually go to their website and sort it out.

I have an old WoW account that I dip into about 1 month a year. It is linked to my 'personal' email that I use for money related things. I have only ever got these types of email in my 'public' email account so that's how I know when they're fake. :)

I've gotten a bunch of those. Hell, I've gotten a bunch of ones regarding my non-existent RIFT account as well. Every single one of them got sent to my junk folder.

Long story short, if they want you to "confirm" or otherwise give them your account information, then it's a scam.

OP, I got those ALL the fucking time even AFTER I shut down my WoW account.

Just ignore them, they're always fake.
