I'm just wondering if there is anybody out there that actually cares about boxing. I saw the Pacquiao/De La Hoya fight yesterday when I was eating dinner at a sports bar and there might have been about 2 people out of 50 at the bar watching the fight. But a few weeks ago, I was in the bar for the Coture/Lesnar UFC fight and the place was filled to standing room only. Does anyone think that MMA killed boxing or was it already dead and MMA just showed up to fill the void left in our need for blood sports? Just wanted to hear some opinions.

I don't care much for boxing really, and the only connection to it is through my mother who used to box (I'm serious!)

I will watch boxing, but only older fights on ESPN classic if there is nothing else on. I don't hate boxing, its just not one of my priorities. Also, Saturday is college football day here, so most bars will play those games (which they know a majority of people want to watch) instead of a boxing match.

I refuse to watch any fighting sport that is anything short of gladitorial combat.

Does that answer your question?

Ummm, I don't really care for boxing. I put it in the same catagory as other fighting things, like WWE, UFC, Nacho Libre, etc. I just can't take it seriously because wrestling is fake, Nacho Libre was like Napoleon Dynamite, and boxing is rigged. Perhaps the only fun I've had with boxing is Punchout, but that wasn't much.

i agree with saturday being college football day but one of the main reasons why people go to sports bars is so they don't have to shell out the money for pay per view events. alot of people will only go to sports bars to watch football if their team is playing and none of the local channels are carrying it. i do believe that there should have been more people watching football yesterday, but i was just amazed by the fact that so few people were watching the fight. i'm the kind of person who thinks the only good thing about boxing were the Rocky movies, but I don't understand how the sport can survive with that little interest in it. I can't even believe that they cover all of their expenses for airing the fight.
