Does anybody know what game this is?

There is a mmo which combines rpg's and building villages which you do with other people who are playing the game, i dont believe the game has been released yet and is still on alpha/beta. Sorry that i cannot give you more details but hopefully somebody will know of it existance.

Could be so many but sounds vaguely like it might be Die2Nite. Maybe. Perhaps. But it is a browser game so not sure if that was what you were looking for.

Although Die2Nite is out of Beta now and live.
