I believe it was 6X9, as I recall. I think I remember reading that a while back, or was told it. Yes, I'm fully aware that 6X9 doesn't equal 42, it equals 54, however I believe that was part of the point.

Well, they said it was flawed because it wasn't through with the calculations yet. I believe the question is "What is 6x7" which there really wasn't any easy way to remember before The Hitchiker's Huide" was released.

Now I get use for my unneeded knowledge. The question is "how many roads must a man walk down?", according to several people i know that have managed to plow through the book.

That was a corruption of the question, not the actual question. Earth was corrupted when the ship full of hairdressers crashed into it, right?

The question was the ultimate question.
The problem is, what is the ultimate question? How do you define it? For that matter how do you even ask it?
Also the Earth was indeed corrupted by a ship full of middle management, we are all their direct descendants, including Arthur Dent, making any answer produced from his mind totally irrelevant, even if it was 6 by 9...

Ignoring the laws of brackets and such 6x9 = 1+5 x 8+1 =42 =D
