Does anyone else hate hacking terminals in Fallout 3?

I like almost everything about Fallout 3. There's just one thing that I hate with a passion...hacking terminals. I cringe every single time I pass by a locked terminal. I can't just ignore them though, because I'm somewhat of a completionist. When I see one, I have to hack it, even though I can't stand the mini-game. I know I can't be the only one. Does anyone else hate it?

It could have been better done. Just save then guess if you must.

I hate it to, mostly because I can't figure it out lol. I just guess randomly until it opens.

I've actually worked out a system that works, but it takes damned years to do o_O or used to, but now I've worked it to an art so it takes less time than guessing does usually :D

The trick is to look for the ones like this.

Notice it ends with ""
Or "()" "[]" "{}"
Normally it takes out the duds, and can give you an extra chance.
If you don't get it though. When you have one chance left, back out. It resets and allows you to try again. And it even resets the codes.

I love it.

It's not that hard, really. It's just a game of Mastermind with letters. The bracket trick can be a life-saver, too.

I absolutely avoided them whenever possible also. It was only untill recently that the little tricks used to get rid of duds makes it minumentally easier. I just don't understand why it couldn't be that upgrading your hacking skill would make the terminals less difficult. Ah, well. Maybe Bethesda will take it into account for the next game...

I am not a fan of it, I normally just ignore them because I almost eat my controller everytime I fail them, although I like the bobbypin lockpicking more then the one in Cyrrodil.

I had no idea what i was doing trying to hack the terminals

I accidentally skipped the very brief description of what you were supposed to do as well whilst button mashing through everything, so i still don't quite know

It's a leeeedle bit tedious, but I tended to find that if I picked one at random, (1/6 correct) I'd just go for a word which was completely different, and more often than not I got access on the second choice...

Better than plumbing in Bioshock...

I like the ratchet and clank hacking system it was fun and gave me a lot challenge in the later game.

I prefer lock picking, since Bethesda did it pretty well in Fallout, but I usually hack terminals just for the juicy info they might have. I just quicksave before and get ready.

All I do is pick one word, then pick completely different word that doesn't have a similar layout to the first word. Then I just look for matches. Alternatively, I just randomly click the possibilities and quickload until the hack is successful.

But I love it when it does work, since now I can do things that I couldn't do before. Sure I can deactivate the turrets, but the important thing is the information stored. Like in the Nuka-Cola factory. When you hacked those terminal's, you must have smiled at least at what they contained and the revelation of what you had been drinking all this time.

I can't say I ever had any issues with them. They weren't especially fun, but I didn't struggle, I prefered hacking a hard terminal to lockpicking a hard lock in terms of ease.

Achievement! *twitch*

I just guess randomly three times and restarts if I can't get it right. It usually works out just fine. I tried earlier on to spot the pattern, but it took too long and I'm too impatient for that sort of thing.

I'm an explorer, dammit! Not a computer technician!
