Does anyone else hate hacking terminals in Fallout 3?

I like them.

They're extra experience, and by guessing three words, exiting and trying again you get unlimited attempts at guessing the correct one.

I did not have the slightest idea of what was going on, and they didnt seem overly important either.

I find them pretty easy, and often you get something useful out of it, such as doors and safes opening based on your Science skill as opposed to your Lockpick, and even having robots fight for you.

The process isn't that tough, really, though sometimes the individual puzzles can be tricky.

You just have to look for the real words among the hashed-up text, look at all of them, and see what letters are really common. (Like, if most of the answers end with "-tion".) Try one of those words and see how many of the letters are right. Say you try "contrition"; in this case, if you get fewer than four letters right then you know that none of the "-tion" clues will work and that makes your next picks a lot easier.

Then it's a matter of comparing words with the ones you've already picked to see how the letters match up... and always bailing out if you're down to your last guess unless you're absolutely certain you know the answer.

It can be tedious some times, and I know that an "autohack" tool like the one in BioShock would have been popular with players more interested in action than puzzle-solving, but I rather liked this form of terminal hacking over the liquid-in-pipes version.

I like them...and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've not had the correct answer by the 4th attempt.

I was proud of my lock-picking skills on Oblivion...I didn't need to put points in lock-picking because I could open very hard without any problems. ;)

I tend to just keep resetting them and guess. It can sometimes have me on the verge of smashing my controller against the wall...

Achievement! *twitch*

I just guess randomly three times and restarts if I can't get it right. It usually works out just fine. I tried earlier on to spot the pattern, but it took too long and I'm too impatient for that sort of thing.

I'm an explorer, dammit! Not a computer technician!
There's an achievement for hacking the terminals?

I'm usually fine with the terminals, but there are occasional ones that I don't get and randomly guess until it opens, those piss me off. More often than not though I choose a random word to start with and the terminal opens on the first try.

Yeah, for hacking 50.

It could have been better done. Just save then guess if you must.
No need to save. Just leave it before it locks you out, and you can start again. Infinite tries =]

I like the hacking because I enjoy word puzzles.

But then again I am one of the lowest people on Earth because I enjoy word puzzles.

I like almost everything about Fallout 3. There's just one thing that I hate with a passion...hacking terminals. I cringe every single time I pass by a locked terminal. I can't just ignore them though, because I'm somewhat of a completionist. When I see one, I have to hack it, even though I can't stand the mini-game. I know I can't be the only one. Does anyone else hate it?
I wish there was a perk where you could design a virus and place it every hacking terminal you access !

Nope. Even very hard ones could be easily hacked by guessing thrice then closing the terminal and repeating till it goes ching.

I liked them, but that's because I like word puzzles. Also, I couldn't get the hang of lock picking, and just about every FAQ said you need one or the other.
