My problem is I love to read. I know doesn't sound too bad, but I also really like discussing the books I read, and unfortunately most people I meet either don't read at all, or haven't read the books I love. Still sounds not too bad suggest they read the books and wait right? Well i also read very, very fast. So by the time they actually get around to reading the book I suggested I've probably read 5 or 6 more or they never do at all because I have a penchant for reading intimidating doorstoppers.

But the point is does anyone else run into this? loving things that no one else knows about?

Specifically my big favorites are:
The Wheel of time
The Night Angel Trilogy
The Lightbringer series
Gaunt's Ghosts
Dan Abnett's Inquisitor books(Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and Bequin trilogies)
A Song of Ice and Fire(less of a problem lately except the whole knowing more cause i read the books)
The Age of Fire
Vampire Earth (currently reading)

Have you considered doing exactly what you're doing now, but more specific? I assume all of those books have their own fan forums you can go to and chat, secure in the knowledge that everyone else there wants to talk about it too.

hmmm well I suppose that would make sense...but there is something about actually talking in person to those people whose company I enjoy about the books I love but we cant have everything

About a total of five guys read in my school. We all read fantasy and scifi so we could talk about popular novels, such as Lord of the Rings, the Forgotten Realms novels, and Warhammer 40k novels, but even to them I read obscure books. None of them have read Mazalan: Books of the Fallen or any Glen Cook novel so my love of dark, political, violent fantasy novels I was left alone.

Book series that only I alone enjoy are:
Mazalan: Books of the Fallen
The Chronicles of the Black Company
The Chronicles of the Dread Empire
Oath of Empires
Shadows of the Apt
Instrumentalities of the Night

I don't really get why that's such a problem anyway. You've said that when you recommend people a book, they're willing to read it, so why can't you talk to them when they're done? Just because you've read four or five other books since then shouldn't mean you've forgotten everything and no longer have any interest in talking about the previous books.

Oooo dark political violent fantasy....my favorite genre! I haven't read that list but I just got a lot of money from my birthday so soon half-price books and amazon should help me fix that

Ah but the bigger problem is that they will start the books and never finish them i guess i forgot to mention that part so they will be kind of interested and get started and then I have to resist talking about the book they are reading lest spoilers drop unintentionally...and then they get distracted by something else and never finish the book(s).
