i know this is really late considering the release date for this game but the reputation this game has is IMO really unfair.I thought tha Postal 2 was a really funny game and unique at that.plus it is really and i mean REALLY cathartic to go on a rampage in.

For the time, yes. I was still a teen and found it´s immature and over the top violence funny. Today I would just call it shit.

I always wanted to play Postal 2. My local neighbourhood game store, Game City, had a new copy of it sitting on it's PC shelf for years. Years. The PC shelf sat right between the rent-a-computers (for LAN matches) and the sports card shelf (which housed my beloved hockey cards), so I saw that game almost every time I entered the store, which was quite often. I never did purchase it though; the one time I had the money and the will to do so, I purchased a 3-pack of Worms games instead (Worms 2, Worms World Party, Worms: Armageddon).

When I finally did get my first job delivering papers, I had moved to console gaming. A couple of years later, GC closed its doors. It's since re-opened in another part of town, but they no longer have a copy of Postal.

I did. Although I do enjoy incredibly gory movies more than I probably should.

The postal dude has a creepy voice.

Fuck!

And one because I have ammo left!

He annoys me a bit.

I love Postal 2.

It's pure satire, and so relentlessly over the top it's impossible to take seriously. It also takes risks that other games would run a mile from - like the climax of one level being a gun battle between islamic terrorists (who all dress exactly like Bin Laden of course) and equally heavily armed priests.

"Come out my peaceful brethren. It's time to deliver an ass whupping of biblical proportions."

Everyone is portrayed as an asshole gun nut. The terrorists, the priests, the pro-censorship protestors... everyone. Sometimes it feels like the Postal Dude is the only sane man in the town - surrounded by such ridiculous violence, bigotry and hate what choice have you got but to lock and load and start shooting back?

(Little known fact - with the exception of the end of level shoot outs it's actually possible to complete most of the missions without firing a single shot.)

Postal 2 is not a sophisticated game and it has a terrible reputation, but it's also a crazy, violent trip through the darkest, weirdest parts of the american psyche.

Yeah, that or it was just a joke made by a bunch of batshit crazy guys with too much time on their hands.

I only played it once, I thought it was kickass.

Wonder if its on Steam...

I've never played any of these games, but just hearing the developers talk about it ensured I would never play them.
I haven't heard of it getting cancelled, so I'm going to assume it's still in development. How Running With Scissors continue to be in business when they haven't released a game in seven years is another question entirely.

@IBlackKiteI: I doubt it's on Steam, but it's definitely on GOG.

well hitting someone with a shovel, pouring them over with gasoline, lighting them on fire and pissing them out is just not something you see in a everyday game.

for that I enjoyed it for a week.
Sheer originality and fuckery.

nowadays I feel like an ass playing it, so I don't.

I loved Postal 2 and still do. It's goofy and rude with pretty lousy graphics but it's hilarious and is an equal-opportunity insulter of the human race. And remember to set your alarm - that cocaine's not gonna buy itself.

I've enjoyed it, it's silly and stupid and over the top.
It's like a 'Grindhouse Video Game'.

I could see Postal 3 happening because of all this controversy.

I have not played the game, but I have watched the Uwe Boll movie and it is surprisingly good. I thought it was funny and Boll's cameo was great.

There's a reason I always list Postal 2 on any favorite games of all time lists. I'm not a big fan of shooters, but when it ever came to blowing off some steam, this game was the cure. I loved it so much I ended up buying Postal X when RWS released it and proudly displayed the cereal box in my kitchen for all the world to see.

But, after having children and having no desire to play games of that calibre with them around, I found very, very little time to play my beloved shooter. So I gave both copies to my best friend over a year ago who never played it before. And the sad thing is, he still hasn't. Such a shame.
