I enjoy messages, although 9 days out of 10, they're friend requests from people I already thought I had on my friendlist, or someone quoting me. No personal messages or anything, I'm so unloved.

Getting new friends has become something of a lesson in phobia management, as I am sent a new message whenever anyone befriends me. I guess I just have a guilty mind, what with being on Probation for the second time in what seems like a week.
Now fear my message, twice!. But seriously, I know what you mean, I'm so close to getting my 1000 comments badge without complaint, that I'm basically saying the nicest thing possible all the time... even if it doesn't make sense

I like it, if it's a bigger number like 7 or 12 I know that they'll all be quotes. But it still puts things into perspective, fueling my massive ego with thoughts along the lines of "Hey, people are paying attention to what I say."

Yesterday morning I only had 1 message though, and I was somewhat disheartened, but it turned out to be a friends request from PurpleRain, so my happiness meter went straight back up again.

[sup]I should probably point out before someone inevitably says something about it that "happiness meter" isn't an innuendo for anything. [/sup]

I actually rather enjoy messages. A little murmur of excitment jolts through me as I wonder who could possibly have written. I wonder what they want to talk about and get realy excited and interested.

And then when I find out it's just automated computer messaging and I have an excuse to go drink.

Whenever I see "1 Unread Message" I am filled with excitement because that means someone actually acknowledged my exsistence on this forum.

This is kind of interesting, reading all this. I spend a lot of time in the roleplaying and forum games section, and I'm playing two games that rely quite heavily on PMs, so it's rare that I don't have a few messages, a quarter of which will be people quoting me. In fact, I need to be recieving messages for these games in order to play them. An empty inbox means that something has gone horribly wrong.

Random subject switch: Quote messages. Half a blessing, half a curse. On the one hand, it's nice to know when someone has quoted me so I can go back to the thread and respond. On the other hand, they fool me into believing that the messages I've actually been waiting for have been received.

I don't think I've ever looked at the "unread messages" link with trepidation. The prospect of being banned never actually occurred to me, I guess.

I managed to get my morpheus and I'm pretty sure I was on probation for laughing at a teabag joke at one time prior to getting it.

I really look forward to getting messages :D
Bit of a let down when they're just quotes though.

...no, I don't mind.

It means people want to talk to me. I like talking to people. Why don't you like talking to people? You know that makes you a misanthrope, right?

Apologies for accusing you of misanthropy.
That about sums it up.
While that may be true, it's not very polite to say as much; just because someone's face looks like an ass doesn't mean you tell them their face is assly (assly...is that a word? I don't think so..)

...no, I'm talking about misanthropy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misanthropy], not lycanthropy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycanthropy]. Two very distinct things.

On another note, how much of a tool does it make me that I have no clue what you're talking about?

Apologies for the confusion.
Just because misanthropy and lycanthropy sound similar. Stop thinking about it logically and you'll get it.
