I hated Oblivion. I'm sure I would have liked it more if I had spent several more hours leveling up spells to the "not shit" point and finding an enjoyable part of the game, but I just couldn't get into it.

So no, I don't play it. I am liking FO3 though.

I raped it for a while - but the poor combat jusr drove me away. I had about 30 mods installed.
If they somehow managed to put the combat from dark messiah into oblivion, then it would be awesome, but thye havent so it sucks abit.

I pity the console Oblivion players.. no mods... ouch. The unofficial patch for Oblivion alone fixed over 1800 bugs.
Yeah I know. Bethesda (typically) didn't really bother with much content for this, as well as not even getting it out of its Beta phase before selling it. Hence vanilla Oblivion is a bugged and empty piece of junk.

Community mods improved it leaps and bounds.

I've played through Oblivion twice (both times on the console and on normal, so no mods) and completed the Shivering Isles expansion.

I discovered that

One: Archery was the most worthless skill in the world,

Two: that offense based magic was also completely worthless,

Three: The only way to succeed in the game was to have either an overpowered tank, or an overpowered stealthy ninja tank. I managed to get the former to level 38 (before running out of pretty much EVERY non collect all this crap quest-before the expansion material came out) and the latter to level 50.

As far as the stories went, I felt that the main quest line failed in comparison to the guild quest lines, particularly that of the Thieves and Dark Brotherhood. On my final play through (with the overpowered stealthy ninja tank) I discovered the most enjoyable thing about the game was on the Shivering Isles when you get to fight the clone of yourself. I did not discard any of my items before entering that room, and the fight took me seven minutes to beat. Both my characters were also alchemist for the main reason of making lots of money very quickly.

I personally find Fallout 3 to be a more immersive game with far superior story telling (don't get me started on how much better the voice acting is), and dare I say it a better game. Keep in mind this is after spending hundreds of hours on Oblivion which was also my first 360 game.

Damn i only have it for the xbox... it's still really good considering i absolutely hate rpg's and that's the only one i really enjoyed (eh, fables ok too i guess...)

Whenever I play one though im always expecting more, like in oblivion I wanted to be able to visit more places, and have more quests that didn't involve going into a freakin cave... and fable takes 10 hours to beat (1 and 2...)

Since I finished all 50 achievements on Fallout 3, I'm back on Oblivion to get my last achievement there. I gotta say, I like the replayability factor of Oblivion but I miss the voice acting and animations of Fallout.
Urgh! The voice acting in Oblivion gave me douche chills. Why the hell do they hire Wes Johnson at all, let alone hire him to do almost all the voices in the game?

Folks might find this a hoot [http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls:_Oblivious]. It's funny because it's true, for the most part. I found it bizarre that any reviewer scored this game above a 5.

My copy for my PC got fried, it and company of heroes too :( , but anyway...before it died Oblivion had over 100 characters on my profile, most of which had reached at least level 10 with a couple of level 20's and my immortal level 45. I had many mods on that I aquired through many illigitimate websites and a couple of VERY poor levels and dungeons I designed. But I must say, if it hadn't fried, I would still play it a lot. I mean, I put more hours into this than final fantasy VII...I mean, who does that?!

I started playing Oblivion again recently (of course with a lot of mods) and in my opinion its better than Fallout 3. I find i can get far more immersed in Oblivion and the story for the main campaign is like...reading a good book that you can't put down. And some of the mods out now are brilliant, I have over 100 installed which seems pretty standard.

But does anyone still play Oblivion and if so are you a mod fan?
It is better thAN f3. It's the best game ever. But, i ain't plaing anymore. That's not to say i own't ever. I am trading in all of my working games, apart from Oblivion.
It didn't think it was as good as Morrowind, although Oblivion did have a functional combat system.

I used to play it alot on the 360 it drove me nuts cause I spent so much time on it. That has to be the longest Ive ever spent on a game. I had weird glitch happen where for some odd reason the mages were at war with gaurds at the arcane university. The Guards would randomly attack a mage the mages would kill gaurds. I have now idea how that happend but it was pretty tight.

I just started playing it again about a week ago since I'm getting shivering isles for christmas and I want to get familiar with it again. Its a good game but it did have a lot of flaws.

Anyone else here still prefer Morrowind to Oblivion, despite the nice additions the GameBryo engine brought? I do.

I had bad experiences when I got mods for morrowind that I never bothered with mods for oblivion. I had enough stuff do and enough fun to not really worry about mods. But I might give em a go now that I got decent broadband.
So I guess its yet to be assertaned whether or not I'm a mod fan or not yet.

I think it all boils down to which one you played first.

oblivion is currently bettert than fallout 3 cus bethesda sorta missed the fact that mod support is the only thing that keeps thier games afloat after 1 playthrough honestly would you still play oblivion again if there were no easily accessable mods?
Well considering that I got the game when it first came out for the 360 and still play it I think I can answer that.
Try playing with a different starting class, race,or immerse yourself by just using general role-playing. I am McNinja, the elf from Morrowind who was trained in hand-to-hand and stealth.
Naturally I wouldn't attack these people from the front so...

I must confess I found Oblivion... well.. boring.

It's a generic fantasy setting with a generic fantasy story that's not even particularly enjoyable. I found the game to be quite repetitive and bland. But I could get over such things (god knows I have in the past) if it wasn't for one simple thing:

The most god awful character development system. It was broken, I can't think of another word for it. It speaks for itself that a Breton specialized in magic and with NO Endurance or Strenght Major skills had the potential to become a better fighter than, say, an Orc with all his major skills tied to Strenght and Endurance simply due to the poorly concieved Major/Minor skill system, leveling and stat boosts.

And to deliver the killing blow, there's the poorly balanced enemy leveling system. I don't mind enemies leveling, but then at least make sure it's done right...

Funny though, I liked Morrowind and loved Fallout 3. It's just Oblivion that I have a distinct dislike for.
