Magestic was an Alternate Reality Game by Anim-X and published by EA back in 2001.

Bascially, the game invaded your life by phoning you, emailing you, instant messaging you etc. With clues and riddles and story elements related to the current episode running. The theme of the game was mystery sci-fi.

Now that was a pretty crazy thing to do back in 2001, but now that technology has become more advance and more importantly, very social, do you thing a game like this could really work well with today's wired in world?

Would you play something like this?

I read about it, it sounded interesting. I'd give it a try if they made another game like it.

I thought you were on about the government agency in Destroy All Humans.

So..no, I have not heard of the Majestic you are talking about.
Would you play a game like it now a days?

All I really remember about Majestic is that it made for a very entertaining subject in a series of the old "Daily Victims" that Gamespy used to run, where a fictional group of characters were "messing with the guy who played Majestic" by stretching the boundaries of an ARG beyond simply receiving phone calls or emails from the game, thus making him paranoid he was now part of a real conspiracy.

Funny stuff.

That's pretty awesome! I can see a fault of the game with people who really want to keep their gaming and real lives separate. But if people are willing to take the plunge like that and blur the lines I think it could be a pretty unique experience.

OH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

Aaaaaaanyways, I heard weird things from my brother about this game. A modern version would likley end up on Fox/CNN for being a Stalking simulator that promotes Gay abortion in the middle east or something.
