I absolutely love them.. I read a lot of books and have never really gotten the hang of reading comic books in general, I hate cliff hangers and getting into a story only to have it stop ten minutes into it... Ugh.

I like having the whole story infront of me and getting my teeth into it without interruptions.

Define Graphic Novel. A completely original thing like Watchmen, a compilation of a comic book story arc like Batman: The Killing Joke, or Japanese Manga?

If its all of those then yes I still read graphic novels. They are actually some of the best things I read.

I read manga online. Does that count?

Really, though, most comics these days are called graphic novels. Comics are usually used to describe the older evolution, with the large pages but overall thin book, while graphic novels describe the new evolution of thicker books with normal-sized pages.

But... Watchmen and V for vendetta are comics...

I've read Maus I and II.
Watchmen,
V for Vendetta.

I'm not afraid to call them comics myself. Because I don't care about stigma.

Some of the better ones I've read (and by "better" I mean can't recommend highly enough):

Maus
Blankets
Ball Peen Hammer
Persepolis
Berlin: City of Stones
Pride of Baghdad
Black Hole
Jar of Fools
The Alcoholic

I'd also say that "comic" implies an ongoing series, while a "graphic novel" is a self contained story. Movies and TV shows are made the same way and look the same on screen; but they're not the same thing. Not that one is better than the other, they're just different ways of telling stories.

Graphic Novel? You mean comic book right? Or is political correctness entering media too? Are video games going to become "Interactive Screenplays?"

Transmetropolitan.
You might say I really like it

Other than that, the last Graphic Novels I've read: The Walking Dead (though that's still ongoing) The Sandman, and Pride of Baghdad

Ah, the graphic novels vs. comics debate. Let me weigh in as both a public librarian and comics reader:

"Graphic novel" is a marketing term publishers use to convince libraries and bookstores to stock comic books, or to convince sensitive or pretentious readers that they are not children or social outcasts for liking comic books. Over ten years ago, most of my older colleagues wouldn't have dreamed of stocking comics in the library, but call them "graphic novels" and give them an actual spine, and things change.

I know Wil Eisner meant something else by the term when he coined it, and some of his works are as close to be actual novels as any comic book could be, but that's not how it's usually used today. When I see the term "graphic novel" applied to works of non-fiction like Maus, Persepolis, other memoirs, comics journalism like Joe Sacco and Ted Rall's work, Larry Gonick's History of the World, or comic biographies, it makes me cringe.

Then you get those who say that something like Watchmen or your typical trade paperback can't be a graphic novel because it was originally released serially in separate parts. Well, so were most of Charles Dickens' novels, and some consider him the greatest novelist in the English language.

Anyway, I'm a huge Warren Ellis fan, and especially recommend Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Orbiter. The Winter Men is another interesting title I've read recently.

I read manga, and I've read Watchmen and Bone. I'm looking forward to reading V for Vendetta.

Does manga count, seeing as it's a japanese version of graphic novels? If so, I read Bleach occasionaly.

I'm not talking about comic books but actual Novels along the lines of Watchmen, I know people out there read them but no-one is open about it. I personally have Watchmen, Batman Arkham Asylum (The 15th anniversary edition with the notes at the back) and have started on the Preacher series. Also if anyone can recommend any Graphic Novels would be brilliant.
Occasionally yes. I'd recommend Watchmen, the Preacher series and Strangers in Paradise [http://www.strangersinparadise.com/], and if you happen to have a new or very nearly new copy of SiP volume 3 part 7 in hardback I know someone who'll buy it from you for more than you probably paid for it.

There's also a new one coming out based entirely on the book Heart of Darkness, by someone who has avoided Apocalypse Now.
