Occasionally, yes. Mainly the occasion is when I'm very bored early in the morning, once eveyr couple of months.

After facebook and twitter and all those websites came around, I'd say MSN has lost alot of mainstream popularity. I'm on MSN all day though (aslong as my computer is on... Which is all day :p) I think it's a nice way to stay in touch with people (long distance internet friends, and real life friends). I'm frequently talking with people on MSN who I've met through games, such as World of Warcraft or Age of Conan etc.

I still use MSN. Since on Facebook you get people who used to know you in school, work, childhood and pretty much anyone can come across you.
I prefer to use MSN to chat to people since Facebook chat doesn't seem to want to work alot and I find more privacy in using MSN or WLM. Whichever you want to call it.

I still use MSN/WLM when I need to talk to someone at a distance, as I don't use social sites very often, and don't own a cell phone (what I see as main communication for people nowadays...it's what I've seen a lot of people use to talk to people even on those sites...so, there's perhaps a connection between the two). But for those of my friends I know who play as many games as myself, I use Xfire, in combination with Steam & Ventrilo. I've used Xfire for years, before Valve felt the need to add messaging to more than just Counter-Strike. Wow, it's pretty amazing, looking back how much not just the real world, but how much digital life has changed in the past ten years. Good thread!

I think MSN is the opium of the early teenagers. I used to spend hours on there but then I hit 16 and it just vanished from my life. I can't stand the damn thing any more and I can't believe that I used to use it. Why do I want to spend hours chatting to these people who I will see the next day? Or when some randomer who you only kind of know as a friend through a friend? You know, the kind of guy that speaks to you the moment you log on and who you have nothing to say to....

Oh yeah, it's pretty much the only way I can actually keep in touch with the few people I actually care about.

That and Steam's IM and Xfire very occasionally, but MSN is by far the most practical of them.

FB chat fails hard. I use forums and Facebook for information, but for general chat it's MSN, and for my friends that use it: steam.

Trillian Astra. I found the program a few years ago, and I won't ever switch to anything else.

I use IM clients only for clearly defined reasons, like someone wanting to talk on Skype who I can't simply just call. Or someone who for logistical reasons prefers to communicate via IM. Which is to say as of right now, nobody.

I think unlimited text messaging was a real nail in the coffin of IM---I text people back and forth all the time.

If I'm on my laptop, I'm on MSN. End of story. I use it every day (well, every day that I have access to my laptop, that is), and I always talk to people on it. I use it to chat with my girlfriend every day, too.

So yeah. Amongst my friends, MSN isn't anywhere near dead.
