Does Bill O'Reilly Think The Simpsons Are Real?

Fox News's Bill O'Reilly thinks the denizens of Springfield have gone too far, and calls upon Fox to rein them in.

In the most recent episode of The Simpsons, the series took a shot at Fox News. The episode opened with a shot of a Fox News helicopter, zooming towards the Statue of Liberty. The chopper bears the Fox News logo, followed by the motto "Not Racist, But #1 With Racists." The Hollywood Reporter reports that Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly was understandably offended by this jibe, but chose unusual words to express his displeasure: "Continuing to bite the hand that feeds part of it, Fox broadcasting once again allows its cartoon characters to run wild." I'm not trying to cast aspersions on O'Reilly, but his statement seems to indicate that the cartoons are the ones writing the jokes.

O'Reilly came to his network's defense on his own program, The O'Reilly Factor, bemoaning the wild cartoons and airing the clip. He closed the segment by saying, "Pinheads? I believe so." It was unclear whether he was referring to the cartoons themselves or the Fox executives who, as they have done for years, allowed the joke to air.

The Simpsons have never played nice with Fox, the network on which they air, and Fox News isn't immune from the animated jibes. Last Sunday's episode, "The Fool Monty," opened with network executives from NBC, Fox, Bravo, LOGO, TBS, and TNT, among others, meeting in a secret enclave atop the Statue of Liberty. Those wild cartoons. What'll they think up next?

Thank you O'Reilly, I never would have found this otherwise (as I don't watch the Simpsons these days). So then, are you a hypocrite for allowing more people to see this clip on your Fox segment as well if you hate it so much?

#1 rule at News Corp: You get to stay on air as long as you keep making money.

I think Bill forgot this little fact.

"Welcome to the FOX network helpline. If you have an idea for a TV show push 1. Your half-baked ideas are all we've got."

Or something like that...

He wants to censor a program that criticizes him and his network's bigotry, willful ignorance, and hateful arrogance?

Good old Bill O'Rly. Keep reminding us of what an insufferable prick you are. Someday we'll pay attention.

As for the clip, loved it. Simpson's been going down in recent years, but there are still some gems left.

Wait, that wording makes it seem like Fox broadcasting is "biting the hand that feeds part of it" rather than The Simpsons. He can't even speak properly
That's what I was thinking when I watched as well.

Also, the clip was funny. Get over yourself Bill O'Reily. I guess he ran out of that "no more tears" shampoo Maddox sent him (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=bill_oreilly).

If the Simpsons are taking a jab at Fox News, clearly for social commentary purposes, then perhaps before reflexively slamming a good natured cartoon they should check to see why so many comedy shows, from Simpsons to South Park to Family Guy to John Stewart etc. are making the exact same joke. Perhaps because its true?

I don't think anyone really believes that anyone at Fox "News" has been gifted with any discernable amount of intelligence.

Wow... am I the only one who thinks O'Reilly was just joking here. Of all the commentators on Fox, he actually has a decent sense of humor about himself and just look at the smirk on his face when he says the "pinheads" line.

I think it pretty obvious this was all in jest.
