Board gaming in particular though

So I play a lot of games and consider myself to be pretty normal, and I have recently attended a few boardgame tournaments. I have to say that it made me really uncomfortable. Maybe, it just happened to be the few times I went, but many people at these events seem to be weird with clear physical or mental abnormalities.

There were people that clearly had no idea how to talk to people, people missing several teeth, a guy with arms that were horribly malformed, a girl missing all her front teeth and people who just seemed off.

Now maybe I am being judgmental and blah blah blah, but I got the strong feeling at these few events that I was with a crowd of misfits, and it made me uncomfortable.

Is this something anyone else has noticed?

Gaming, hobbies, ect, are all intended to take our minds off of the horrible world around us. That's their purpose, just like art, literature, ect. If anything, all forms of fiction should attract freaks and weirdos, as that's kind of what it's supposed to do.
