Recently I discovered an anime called Shiki, it's a vampire anime set in Japan and it's about a disease going around a small village in the middle of nowhere were whoever is affected dies and are reborn as Shiki(vampire). Shiki pretty much have all the same characteristics as a typical vampire, but they still retain their memories and personality they had before they died and still care for their friends and family while their friends and family look at them like monsters( another point in the series, who is the real monster? The humans or the Shiki) and they must drink human blood, but they have no choice even if they are against it otherwise they become uncontrollable and vicious until they drink blood otherwise they will die and this is the moral dilemma of the series, does it make you evil to live? The Shiki can't help it in the same sense that we kill animals and eat their meat in order to live, so escapists what do you think, do you think it is evil or not? And on a side note, I highly recommend checking out Shiki, it is a really good anime

No, but it's also perfectly fine for the humans to rise up and commit genocide, as that's effectively what the vampires are doing. Both are justified in killing each other, but could probably come to some arrangement peacefully.

By extension, this means that if chickens ever become hyper-intelligent, I look forward to the war.

No. Survival is survival. Humans kill each other for the sake of survival all the time.

By that same token, I could not bring myself to blame any human who wanted to eradicate the vampires though.

I also look forward to the war!

OT: No. And the whole "vampire drinking blood" morality has been explored plenty of time in fiction. It depends on the world they operate in.

Not it does not, end of discussion, moving on. They could have made an agreement like what happened in Fallout 3, people donating blood for the vampires to drink. There was a plot hole of those people being cannibales and not vampires, but from what I heard vampires only need to feed around once a month. Really IRL vampires could just set up a deal with the Red Cross and they'd be set for fucking life.

Experiment time. Write the word "Live". Now write it backwards. Now look at what you just wrote and consider its implications. You're welcome.

On a more serious note, I find that to use concepts of good and evil on a level like that is rather insipid, especially given that evil in the modern context is often defined in a way that implies reliance on conscious and deliberate action. By these definitions, living itself could not considered evil, nor could a biologically hardwired function.

True about the last part as the way some of the humans treated the Shiki really got me thinking as one character, a scientist who was studying Shiki locked his wife who was a Shiki up in his basement and started torturing her by injecting acid into her bloodstream and then before staking her she was telling him to stop. Another part was when the humans started hunting them and a father pinned his Shiki son down and staked him while the son was screaming telling him not to do it, after that the father showed no remorse, pretty much saying good riddance

Yeah, in SAhiki its pretty arguable that it got to the point of evil vs evil.
However, I would also say it is not evil to fight for your existence. It was the torture-y parts that made things a bit... grim.

Sounds like I Am Legend to me.

But no, we're not evil. At least I'm not, you might be though. Are you evil?
