I'm glad Left 4 Dead had split screen, made the game way more fun, I hate when games kill of split screen
Im glad they had at least 2 player split screen. But they had 4 people. Why couldn't they made 4 player split screen? System link is a hassle.
2 is all I needed, no one wanted to play as Zooey and Louis anyways
HEY!!
I play as Louis >:/

On Topic: I hate it when games don't have split screen It's always funner to have a friend right their when you play and system link is a hassle. I don't play online much i don't have the money to subscribe to anything. nor do i play console games enough to make it worth it...
XD

We mostly shoot Louis......we're really mean people though
As smoker he kept talking about hanging the black man.

Me and many others got rather riled up at the idea that EDF Insect Armageddon was not going to have local splitscreen co-op.

But now it's back. And now it's a day-1 for me.

Trust me, a lot of people still have local co-op matter heavily. I myself have around 7+ local gaming buddies and we have gaming parties every now and again.

Bought Borderlands purely because of the split screen and had an absolute blast. Bought Lost Planet 2 for the same reason (one of my only gaming regrets.. that and Assassin's Creed II).

Playing with two PS3s and two TVS is the worst thing I've ever tried.

yeah. i love resistance cause it had split screen and i could play with my brother. i bought resistance 2 and played like 5 mins of it cause it didnt have split screen.

i think the game developers think people who play games play alone in a dark room with a pile of empty coke cans next to them.

Has to do with FPS (...frames per second.) sometimes, rendering all the action twice, or 4 times, kills the experience.
.......are you gaming on a toaster?

Also FPS is not double with split screen :p it plays just the same, its the fact that everyone plays online now that developers got lazy and said forget split screen
No, I didn't say the FPS doubles, It renders the scene twice. From 2 viewpoints, or four. The frames per second will dip -hugely- on most games because of that. Especially when things are happening.

Imagine a game that already makes the PS3's FPS dip in single player. Now imagine it having to do it twice. At the same time. It'll dip even more. Now imagine it doing it -four- times all at once. Multiplayer at two and a half frames per second is totally rad! ...Only it's not, so devs don't put it in the game.
What about Halo and CoD? Seem fine

Hot Pursuit doesn't have split screen? What putrefaction is this!? I shall stick to Blur for my racing fix.

At least I can enjoy Lost Planet 2's split screen capabilities when I want a shooter. As soon as I can find somebody else who wants to play it...

Yes because when a archaic system like the N64 can support 4 people running around in Golden Eye then my god damn hyper dimensional future console should be able to do that as well. It's nonsense they can't now.

Wait need for speed dosnt have spilt screen?!!?!?!?!?! its a fucking racing game :(

This is how it works unfortuanatly

2 players on one console = 1 Console, 2 Controllers and 1 Game
2 Players on two console's= 2 Console's, 2 Controllers, 2 Games and (in the case of Xbox users) 2 Online subscriptions

And then they have the audacity to claim "we want the customer to be happy"

I can understand when massive large games (like GTA4 or DR2) dont have split screen because its a bugger on the proceseor (even though the Ps3 is supposed to handle it-NO MATT STAY ON TOPIC)

But when games like Need for speed (a fucking racing game), Uncharted 2 (that even had a Co-Op mode!!) and in the especially inexcusable example FPS's (like killzone up there....I mean come onnnnnn FPS's were practicaly the birthplace of split screen fun), when theese games dont have splitscreen....thatrs when i get annoyed

Maby I dont have 100000 online friends to play with
Maby I want to socialise with my mates over a game
Maby i want to play with somone rather than play with just a facless set of one's and zero's that is alledgedly (and from the stupidity of players on DR2, i sincerely hope not) a human being

I want my splitscreen back... I've had it quite a few times when I would tell my friends about a sweet game, but I can't play it with them due to no splitscreen. The only things that seem to get splitscreen these days are big budget, online multiplayer games like CoD, and most of them will just play online anyways. I guess split screen ain't as profitable or something, but I doubt it's due to it being difficult to make, we are in the 21st century after all...

OT: I want split screen. It is in fact the only way I can play multiplayer because I have shithouse internet. Why do you think Halo's so popular? Because you can LAN it split screen...

What?
Resistance 2 has some of the best Split-Screen action i have ever seen in a game?
Have you not even tried the online co-op?
Or the fact that you can play online against other people and it have split screen?

Its always the game that i have to break out when i have friends around

It's really sad that some games are choosing to drop split screen multiplayer. It really is bizarre that you can play against someone half way round the world but not someone sitting next to you. I guess the fact is that there's more money to be made online. With the ever decreasing length of single player campaigns this just feels like another attack on those of us who don't like online multiplayer.

Yes, I've been lamenting this for a year or two.

Two examples:
1)When I was in college I lived in an apartment with friends for 3 of the 4 years. Me and the one guy I lived with (never could get the girls to play, save for a brief GTA4 session) would play games a lot when we didn't feel like doing work or were just bored. I was the only one with a console so LAN was not an option. We played through Resistance Co-Op, Borderlands Co-Op, UT3 Co-Op...and well I think that was pretty much it. After that it was pretty much take turns on GTA4 or just do random matches in UT3. Looking for local multiplayer in games it became apparent fewer and fewer were doing it.

2)I'm now back home. Me and my one friend who is still in the area always have trouble finding games to play. Sure we both have PS3's and 360's but it's a pain to unhook everything and set up two consoles and two tv's (especially at his place because his room is tiny). Sure we can play online but what about when we're just hanging out and want to play some games? L4D Co-Op, Dynasty Warriors (6 I think) Co-Op, UT3, Borderlands, MW or CoD are about it.

I also wish more games that do have local multiplayer would have Co-Op campaigns.

Oh yeah Edit: I doubt it's that having splitscreen is too much for the system to handle since there are games that still do it and always have been. If it is a problem for a specific game I'm pretty sure they could dial down the graphics for the splitscreen mode. I mean this is how computer games work, you have a bunch of settings so if the highest ones can't run on your comp you can turn them down and still play the game if your PC is decent. Why wouldn't they be able to make a console game do this automatically for a splitscreen mode?

No. I had split screen for most games I cared about when it mattered to me. These days, with my friends scattered across the country, I don't really care.

Split-Screen = Excellence.

My friend's XBOX Broke, i lent him mine. Fable 3 came out, I took XBOX back and he gave me a TON of games.

I played a few of them and thought, THIS WOULD BE AWESOME TO PLAY WITH OTHER FRIEND.

Other friend came over on a whim and was looking through the collection of 24 games....Only one of them was multiplayer, and it wasn't the one I wanted it to be.

Worst of all, what I dislike, even more than removing splitscreen, is removing LAN from computer games (I'm talking to you Starcraft 2).

You have summed it up quite nicely. All the lack of splitscreen is for is to make as much money as possible. After all, that's all developers seem to care about nowadays.
