Does Shenmue love the 360?

It's not mystery that Shenmue on the Dreamcast was an innovative game and probably the only one of it's kind, atleast until the sequel was released on the Xbox...

I recently bought Shenmue on the Dreamcast and i'm currently enjoying the ride it is taking me on. I know that Shenmue is a story that has many parts and i'd like to be able to experience the rest (atleast all that was released). Shenmue 2 was released on the Dreamcast in Japan and on the Xbox in the states. Because the Dreamcast import is very expensive, i'm trying to get hold of the much cheaper Xbox version.

Is Shenmue 2 backwards compatible on the 360?

According to that link it should be playable. Be advised that "playable" could mean that it simply runs, not necessarily at 100% compatibility.

Yeah, I got it a while ago. Sucks ass though. I don't know what's so entertaining about asking for directions for fifteen minutes and then getting stuck in a stalemate in some boring ass minigame. Sold it for a buck at a garage sale.

I wouldn't know, to be honest. I had the joy of playing the first one on the Dreamcast (both console and games no longer with me sadly).

If the first is anything to go by, it's worth the risk of buying it and finding out.
I really don't wanna pay for the dreamcast import because its over 60 bucks (used...I don't even wanna know how much it is new)...

I'm a little tight on cash as well so i'm not doing too many risky things with my money. If I had more, i'd definitely splurge...

You can be easily ignored...you should have just sent the game to me...

Well too bad, because some other poor sap is probably bored out of his mind taking a piss on that game.

Fair enough then. Although I think someone has answered your question here.

Good luck though, and tell me what I'm missing out when you know!
I'll be sure to share the joy...

You should have known what you were buying before you bought the game. The only one to blame is yourself...

:) it's been more then 8 years since I've played that game....

When I have the money I'm going to buy a Dreamcast and a few games, including the Shenmue series.
Shenmue is a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. It's nice to play a game as different as Shenmue, especially when you play nothing but First Person Shooters for so long. You can probably get a dreamcast console for about 20 bucks from Amazon or Ebay. Just be sure it is in better than decent condition because you don't wanna buy a dead dreamcast...

I just bought Shenmue II off Amazon for about 8 bucks ($8.01) to be exact. If it doesn't work, imma be very unhappy...

It still all comes down to the fact that it isn't an action game by any means...

That's the fucking truth. I was still bored out of my mind though. Honestly a game that makes me ask for directions can already fly out the window like a piece of bat shit.

It works. The only noticeable hitch is that none of the camera filters work but, eh, did you really want to play through a sepia toned Shenmue 2 anyway?

Have one, but I haven't had any hours sincec December. Applied for another job but I won't be going for an interview with the District Manager until Tuesday.

I'm also a college student, and if you're in college you'd know how tight money can be. By the final few months of college my food budget for the week, not a day, was ?10.
Well then you have a difficult choice to make...

Video games or Food

Its rare to find a decent dreamcast copy nowadays. i bloody loved shenmue and shenmue 2. got both on dreamcast (1 english, 2 japanese) and 2 on xbox as well.

Works fine on 360. no issues for me. Surprisingly though it loads quicker on the dreamcast :D
