Does switching between games confuse you?

I know if I switch to a new game, i generally leave the old game on the shelf for around a month. Then I try to pick it up again, and basically have to start over again.

So, other than L4D2(currently loving DA:O) I'm trying to space my games instead of buying a bunch when they launch during this time of the year...that way when the summer drought hits I'll have a string of new titles to play 8)

I get used to another game's controls the first time I do an action I didn't intend to do after I switch games. I tell myself: "This is , <insert_(Mouse)key_here> doesn't " and no mistakes are made after that (usually).

Yeah, this happened to me when I was playing COD4 and Crysis. In Crysis, clicking the mouse wheel brings up the Nanosuit menu while in COD4, I had bound the "throw grenade" button to the mouse wheel because it seemed more conveinent. So, all right, this one is kinda my fault, but I still can't tell you how many times I died in Crysis because I kept going into the Nanosuit menu (which doesn't pause the game for those of you who don't know), giving the enemy just the few seconds they needed to penetrate my top-of-the-line prototype military armor...

Never had this problem. . . Because computer controls are universal! Hahahaha.

But on consoles I had a terrible habbit of making nades fly on Halo when they weren't supposed too.

Computer controls are somewhat universal. Except for prone/crouch keys. Some games switch those up, which can be confusing.

I used to switch between Saint's Row 2, Bioshock, Halo 2, Wolfenstein, Fallout 3, Halo 2 and Halo 3 repeatedly, and I never got used to it.

this happens to me when i play different fighting games. me and my girlfriend played 3 fighting games in the space of about an hour, and the controls for countering kept confusing me. apart from that, no.

I've gotten into a habit lately of switching between games, and I find myself getting confused by control schemes sometimes.

For example. RB is the run button in Saints Row 2, but in Gears 2 it reloads, and it Borderlands it throws grenades. I can't count how many times I've thrown grenades when I've wanted to run .

Does this happen to anyone else? Are there any really bad button confusion combos (like RB for grenades or running) that you can think of?

This is one reason why all games should allow you to remap their control scheme. I've played console games that allow this, not just PC ones.

I don't get confused switching between games, however switching between systems can be a different.

Especially for on-screen prompts, if I've been playing PS3 and switch to 360, a "Press X to continue" can really mess me up...so much so that I have to check the controller layout to see which one I'm using!

All that happens is that I get mixed up in terms of buttons for a while, but that soon smoothens out...

I play mostly VALVe fps's and the controls are almost identical.
And because I'm on PC anything that is different, I change to suit me, so no confuslement anywhere.

The only times I get confused is when I want to melee in counterstrike instead of the knife... I keep right clicking after a few L4D sessions. WHY WONT YOU DIE?!!? Oh yeah it's CSS....

I was playing Twilight Princess for about 8 hours the other day then put Smash Bros Brawl and was playing fine, then I chose Link and all of a sudden couldn't play for about 3 minutes. Was trying to do Twilight Princess stuff in the game, REALLY confused me.

The other day I went back and replayed Tomb Raider Legend. I got to the first motor bike section and automatically held donw RT to accelerate, having done so in gta4, Forza 2 and just about every other game which has driving elements on 360. It took me a few seconds to realise that accelerate was infact the A button which I can't stand because it limits you to either "go" or "don't go" where as with the trigger you can pull it further to increase acceleration and release it to decrease.
