Does switching between games confuse you?

This used to never happen until I fucking mapped right mouse button to jump for Quake Live.

Now I'm playing UT and keep accidentally secondary firing, or zooming in when I wanted to double-jump.

It usually takes a few screw-ups.

Other than that I have no problem. On console games I find it incredibly easy for some reason, even when going from something like Ikaruga where I re-bound half the shit to Gigawing 2 which is a similar game but with different controls...

Same. The hotkeys also throw me, I'm used to to having my fingers on E and F2 for RA3, but of course they don't work in the likes of Generals or RA2.

Camera controls are the worst for me, some games have them inverted by default and some don't. Some have the option of toggling... some don't.

Oh yeah, in Kingdom Hearts, where X is attack, and every other game under the sun where it's jump used to get me all the time.

This only happens to me when I play RSV2 and then switch over to Halo 3, which uses the LB to reload instead of X (Like every other FPS, including Halo 1 and 2) Pillock must've been working at Bungie that day.
Took the words out of my mouth, comrade. And nice ZP reference ;) Although, I rather using a bumper to reload, although the left one feels a bit odd after dropping it on the day I got to my new house which has tile instead of bloody carpet. -.-

Heh, I've never played a game without the option to invert the Y-axis. I have pissed many a co-op partner off by pausing a brand-new game on Xbox Live to change my Y-axis ^_^

Computer controls are somewhat universal. Except for prone/crouch keys. Some games switch those up, which can be confusing.
QFT. Also toggle crouching or non-toggle. (Rors... My journal: Personally I prefer toggle. Possibly homosexual, must investigate further. Potential for silly poll significant.)

So basically as mainly a PC gamer I find changing game mechanics more disorienting than controls because controls can be remapped anyway. Common problems of mine right now are repeatedly trying RMOUSE melee in TF2 after some L4D, urges to spycheck in games with friendly fire and trying to double jump with anything but TF2 Scout.
Curse you non-generic gameplay mechanics!

Nope. I could have returned to a game I haven't played in years after playing a different game constantly for months, and never have trouble with the control.

No. I'm more of a PC gamer and the only buttons that I sometimes mess up are the "zoom in" buttons (mouse wheel and mouse right button).

Sometimes I try to use a feature that's in another game, like wall running in Oblivion, but I take that as a mark of a good gameplay mechanic. At worst it will get me killed once before I get into the game.

I seem to have played Fallout 3 so much that seems like I keep pressing the B button in other games expecting it to pause and bring up a menu when I don't think I have any games that use that sort of mechanic other than maybe Mercenaries.

I switched from Resistance 2 (L1 and R1 to shoot) to Bioshock (L2 and R2 to shoot) at some point. Died a lot of times because I kept trying to defend myself, but the game kept switching guns.

RB is the run button in Saints Row 2... I can't count how many times I've thrown grenades when I've wanted to run :).
Every single time I play SR2 I will throw a nade by accident and kill myself.

only once surprisingly, it seems to happen to quite a few people here

but for a while during the summer i was playing lots of Prince of Persia and Jak 2/3, and for some reason i tried to roll in PoP alot using L1(the Jak controls) and ended up using one of my sand banks.

Also, today a guy at my school said he never could play playstations cos he always got mixed up with the buttons. He then asked how do I remember what each button does in each game?
a Friend aswered with another question: "How do you remember how to walk?"
What he meant was its not remembering buttons, its more like instinct. Well at least theats what I think he meant.
For me I can hardly ever remember controls when I try to tell a friend the controls to a game, I just know when I'm playing the game.

Happens to me a lot lately ^^ though more on functions I don't use nearly as often~
I've been switching between Infamous and Prototype and I can never open the map in one go because on one it's select and on the other it's start XD; it would be interesting if game makers could make some sort of guidelines for these things...

If i get used to playing one particular game, and then try and play another game it can be a bit confusing for me initially. But then I get back in flow with everything.
