Ok i know this is random but I had to ask if anyone but me thinks that after you do the tenpenny tower quest and get the ghoul mask (this applies if you chose the peacful solution of course) does it just make the game to easy? I mean in Fo3 you are constantly forced to walk into ghoul infested areas which without the mask you are most likely going to be overwhelmed quite a few times yet with the mask you can safely pass through every subway, sewer, building etc. that contains ghouls. I know after I got the mask i actually started hoping that I would run into ghouls so i could pretty much walk up and high five them and continue on.

Fallout 3 is really easy anyway, and most Feral Ghouls aren't dangerous at all. The toughest areas in the game don't contain any ghouls.

For one this should be in gaming discussion.

However, the inability for ghouls to attack you removes alot of the fear that around every corner, something could scream at you and charge at you in the darkness

Well, ghouls are only a small fraction of the enemies you encounter in Fallout 3, with many being far more dangerous. So no, I don't think it makes the game too easy.

Frankly, the only time I ever used it was inside the Dunwich building, because shooting ghouls from the shadows started to bore me.

Greenwich building I suppose, but not really any other place. Ghouls head pop like party balloons with a mere hunting rifle, so I wasn't really griping about running in to them, rather I liked VATSing their asses for funsies. So in short, no. In long, not going to quote yahtzee anymore than I need to

I didn't get it til much later in the game, at which points I had enough stimpacks to go up against a Behemoth flanked by Deathclaws armed with my fists and wise-cracking side-kick. What the mask did do however, was make the game 120% more awesome. I was a freaking zombie-detective!

It's like the Boots of the Crusader in Oblivion. They stopped animals attacking you, and it made some dungeons immensely easy as you could just walk through it all. But as has been said Gouls are low level enemies, and so doesn't really spoil it.

I guess so but what about when you install broken steel and the reavers are introduced? the first encounter with one of those things i practically used every gun I had at my disposal to kill the bloody thing.

yes because you dont have to fight the strongest respawnable enemy in the game

THE GHOUL REAVER

Feral Ghoul Reavers are really tough enemies, more than twice as durable as Sentry Bots or Deathclaws. The Reavers are extremely quick, and their lunge attack can send the player sliding back some distance with every strike. Their blows, like a Deathclaw's, tend to pack quite a punch, and even high level players are prone to being easily crippled/quickly killed in short order if not careful. Their radioactive gore easily cripples limbs and is thrown almost always with deadly accuracy. Reavers seem to be highly perceptive as they (unlike Deathclaws) can even detect High Level players in Sneak Mode wearing the Chinese Stealth Armor. The Ghoul Mask is very helpful as they will not attack you if you are wearing it. Similar to Glowing Ones, they emit radiation in large quantities.

Feral Ghoul Reavers may 'have a fit', making them invincible for a short period of time. While they can be successfully targeted in V.A.T.S, all shots fired will miss. If this happens, shoot for the legs, or make use of grenades.

Too easy, no. It makes it easier, but Ghouls weren't really the most difficult enemies to begin with.

The only time the ghouls ever become a problem is when you run into the Reavers.

Those things will fuck you up, but the mask allows you to get past 'em

Alot of things make that game too easy.

The gun you get from the robot who think's and had surgery to make him appear more human for example

I never used the ghoul mask because of this.

Oh god Reavers what mad man devised such horrid beasts, first time I ran into one I broke a combat shotgun and used up about 100 .32 rounds. Thank you Roy Phillips without that mask I would've had to use up most of my stims and ammo just to get the unarmed bobblehead.

A3-21's Plasma Rifle? It only does 50 damage a shot, the Chinese Assault Rifle does more then that and the 10mm SMG and the normal Assault Rifle.

well, have you ever tried not wearing the masks? I know but still just do that mission later on.

The gauss rifle you get after the Operation Alaska DLC makes the game too easy. Super Mutants stop being scary when you get a knockdown effect on them.

The game is easy enough without the mask. I never bothered to get it (hell, didn't know it existed) and by end game was charging right into groups of Enclave soldiers and gleefully mowing them down. Feral ghouls are only threatening until you get a good assault rifle and enough ammo to go with it, which I did around lvl 5 or so.

The game was pretty easy anyway. I never wore the ghoul mask, I wanted to kill pretty much everybody/thing I came across!

Im now at level 22 of the game of the year edition. I too believe the mask gets the fun out of the long walks through the metro system. But then again: ghouls aren't your first worry in the wastes :). Its a shame though I picked the Explorer perk (the one who lets you see almost all the places on the map), I dont feel like a real explorer anymore :p.

edit: first play through!!!! Main quest finished.
