Turns out steve jobs worked or owned (correct me if im wrong) in pixar! Monsters Inc. was one of their creations and steve jobs apparently was there! wow...

anyway, i think you wouldnt actually get 'angry' at this sort of thing, but you would just be deeply annoyed and irritated. This person you talked to doesn't seem to fit the intellectual type... judging by her responses... IMO

I cried when I saw a rerun of Crocodile Hunter a few months after Steve Irwin passed...
I never knew him, but I really loved him for what he did.
People get emotional over different things, and sometimes it doesn't make sense, but that's part of life.

It isn't about Steve Jobs. It's about the realization that everyone in the world faces mortality. You will, your family will, your friends will, and every day countless people who are alive and full of happiness do as well. A famous name connected to something you care about dies, and the culture at large is suddenly faced with a bleak reminder of the most fundamental tragedy in the universe. It takes a chunk out of the daily denial that any sane person requires to function.

Hey, if Taylor Swift died I might cry.
Yeah but Taylor Swift has way better breasts than Steve...
You sure about that? Have you seen the July photograph of the Apple Pin-Up Calender for 2012?

EDIT: I apologize, that was probably in bad taste...
However, that doesn't remove the fact that I have mine on reserve.

Why does it bother you so much? Why do you think it's inherently wrong for her to react that way? It has nothing to do with you. It's her life and her emotions, and she can react to things however she very well wants to. Maybe his death reminded her about how temporary all this is, and she was reacting to the realization that she too would die someday. Or maybe she's just so empathetic that, even though she doesn't personally know the family, she can understand and share their pain. Maybe it reminded her of someone she lost, or made her think of how she would feel if she did lose someone that close to her.

The only thing that makes me angry here is that there are actually people who are petty and apathetic enough to mock someone else's private emotions and emotional responses. If it bothers you or makes you uncomfortable, just give her some space until she's done. It is none of your business.

I have the exact same response to others when any celebrity dies. People start bawling their eyes out over it and all I can think is "Seriously?! They didn't even know you existed! Why would you waste that much time and energy on someone who never knew you and probably didn't care whether you liked them or not?!"

he had absolutely nothing to do with monsters inc. look it up. he was simply the co-founder, only one he worked on was the original toy story! and he has only ever gotten 'special thanks' on other movies, of which monsters inc is not a part of.

He WAS in pixar when it was made though, I looked it up on one of many Steve Jobs' biographies. I also never said anything about him working on any movie, just apparently... standing there...

But had he not bought Pixar from Lucasfilm, there's a good chance they'd still be a little special effects division of the studio doing CGI sequences for one of many George Lucas's follies.

Close to something that happened to me, actually. This person was depressed for the entire day when the drummer of one of her favorite bands died, this irritated me because when i tried to tell her that it is stupid to be so fanatical, i was seen as the bad guy. Or maybe i was, i dunno.

But, it'd be hilarious if Kanye interupted her funeral...sorta.
Beyonce would have to die first and have the best funeral of all time so that Kanye would have something to say though.

Angry? Whilst her level of emotion is over the top, the most I would be is irritated at the reasoning, just as much as I am irritated at the reasoning some people have that concludes we shouldn't care someone died.

"yeah!"
Okay, did she really say that, or are you just bullshitting us by exaggerating what she actually said?

If it's the former then...damn!

You know what, I have real trouble believing that such a conversation ever took place anywhere, except in your mind.

And even if it did, what do you care? You asked her why she was crying and she gave you an answer. From how it sounds like, she got her shit figured out pretty well. He was on the tele, he was involved in a movie she liked, so she is upset by his death. She even acknowledges that this is the only reason why she is upset and doesn´t make up some bullshit to justify her emotional reaction.

You know what actually DOES make my slightly angry ?
People misrepresenting or inventing conversations with people in their lives, just so they can knock a strawman over and look smart on the internet.
Also people, who forgo using capitalization (I mean seriously, the entire op consists of you claiming the intellectual high-ground over someone. Would it kill you to at least TRY to produce a post that actually makes you look somewhat smart-ish ?)

yes. this is exactly what she said. im not upset that she's crying. oh no, she can bawl away. im upset with WHY she is crying. she has this weird belief that if they were on tv, they are god like.
