I'm not allowed a desktop fan in a 25c office with not air conditioning. Oh, why you ask?

Health and safety; I could potentially blow dust into people lungs resulting in a deteriotation of other people's health and well being?

derp.
My god, you get 25? Eskimo. The thermostats at my office are set at 29 when I come in in the morning and I listen to people complain all day if I turn them down one degree.

We're not allowed to play cards in the library, even during our free periods.
I had that at the university center once at Memphis State. I sat down and was waiting for my brothers so I started playing solitaire and some staff member walked up and said "You can't play cards here." "I hardly think that's what the administration meant when they prohibited card games. I'm being quiet and I'm not likely to gamble with myself, am I?" "Put the cards up."

My old school had no hats, no trainers or boots(even if they were black) and no hoodies. I also had a mohawk which apparently wasn't allowed (the irony being that they told me to wear a hat to cover it, then shouted at me for wearing a hat). Needles to say, I wore a cap, a pair of Dr Martens and a hoodie every day... VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
Some epic contradictions right there I always love when school/parents go put up some lame ass rules only to contradict them selves. I always wear Hoodies/Caps and no school so far has complained about my Eybrow Piercing.
It wasn't really the school, it was just my ***** of a form tutor. She was truly evil, you should have seen her face when she spotted my tattoo. She told me I had to get it removed and phoned my parents, my mum told her to go f**k herself...
That must have been priceless. Anyway a school forcing you to remove a tattoo is just freaking stupid and insane. Tattoos can be covered up and there will be nothing wrong with it. Where did you have that tattoo anyway? Your neck/Upper arm?
The stupid thing is that it is on my chest, my tie wasn't pushed up all the way so you could see the very top of it. When I wore my tie properly, you couldnt see it but she still demanded I got it removed.

Teachers aren't allowed to give students food except for two days a year of their choosing. This doesn't bother me but apperently the first grade parents are unhappy.

Apart from a no cell phones policy, we don't really have any stupid rules. Our principal is very lax with in-school policy because we always have a few cops around to keep order. He doesn't give a damn about dress code and he encourages teachers to take their day off when they have to do a mandatory safety notice day (which has the side effect of keeping them teaching real stuff in class more). In fact, I think more of the in-class policies are dictated by the teachers instead of the school.

So, as you may recall from one of my previous topics, me and my friends are making an amatuer movie. We have decided to practice our filming at school. So as we´re shooting a dramatic scene a teacher comes up and tells us we can´t film in the school.

I ask him why. He responds with "That´s just how it is"
Obviously, i find this retarded.

So, any stupid rules at your school/work?
Go to talk to your principal. If he says it's ok. Get it in wiritng and show it to anyone who questions you actions. My school doesn't really have anything, but some of the thigns that are blocked on the computer annoy me. Lucky, the Escapsit isn't blocked, which'll problably cause to finally get to my 1000th post. The sites I use more foten, like Tumblr and Facebook are blocked though. Also, my school seems to be extremely inefficient in producing schedule based on what th3e student wants. (more of a rage post, it's my first day adn I"m still kinda mad.)

I never understood why PE was forced in school. If I want to do sport, I'll do it in my own time. Whenever it was PE, I always refused to do anything. Only a couple of times did they punish me for it. One time I snuck out because I had schoolwork to do and not running around in circles for an hour.

I kept asking for them to let me drop it, because I needed the time to pass my maths. They kept saying no.

They wouldn't even let me drop RS, even though it was a half GCSE that no employer or sixth form would accept, for obvious reasons. Also, I was failing it, like about 90% of the class. They still wouldn't let us drop it for a useful subject. Surprise surprise, we all failed it.

No music allowed... Which drives me fucking insane since I then have to deal with stupid people babbling at me while I am trying to work.
Then I tell them to shut their worthless fucking mouths and all of a sudden I am somehow the bad guy.
No friggin justice in the world.

Oh and when I asked the boss why the fuck not, her answer was the most retarded thing I have ever heard.
"Because you are part of the workplace. Part of the family so I want you to interact with us."
First off. I aint your fucking family. Secondly, I am there to do a goddamn job.
Not to interact with a bunch of whelps who if they spontaneously combusted I would not bother to piss on. Although I would quickly procure a deck chair and some marshmallows...
Actually, the whole 'Being a family' thing is a motivational tactic to boost your morale as a worker and increase your efficiency. It also makes you want to stay in your job because of that (because you dont want to leave a friendly to you environment) and become more interested in the company's wellbeing etc etc. So errr that could mean you could get fired o_0 actually as you havent integrated with the fellow workers. And I agree with you, they should allow music in the office, especially on a busy day, but to some degree so people dont neglect it.

I was not allowed to bring my belt with real TNT explosives around it, as it was a 'danger to other people' and my T-shirt that says : I am from Al-Qheida.

I wonder why

This year, my school's really cracking down.

During lunch, one of my friends nicked the crusts from my pizza and proceeded to use them as pseudo-nipples (or something like that). He got a week's worth of either IRP (in-school suspension) or having to eat lunch in the office, I can't remember which. This was on the first day of school, even. Apparently it counted as sexual harassment.
I fucking lol'd HARD right there.

My school actually has no rules, it's awesome. The only one is gym uniforms. But other than that, you can dress in whatever you want, say pretty much whatever you want, and plenty of teachers let students use cell phones and ipods in class.

Hod it right there...
What school do you go to?!?!?!
That sounds EXACTLY like my school.

One of our rules is that teachers must EXPECT respect.
You do NOT EXPECT RESPECT.
YOU EARN IT.
Oh, and they have a rule tat states that 'personal computers are not to be used within school hours without the express consent and monitoring of a teacher.'
That's right, I can't use my laptop without asking a teacher.
They. Don't. Care.
Despite the fact that we seem to live in the same country, I doubt we attend the same school. Unless you were lying about your gender. And our teachers are pretty alright; they don't care enough about us to demand respect. But they do expect it.

My school and work are pretty cool about rules. So no stupid ones. I came dressed as a Pirate to school one day (for talk like a pirate day) and none of the teachers said anything.

One of my friends is in the Army and he says you're not allowed to Loot. What kind of rule is that?
The tyranny! How could they do such a thing?

Back in my public school, showing any sort of affection for members of the opposite sex was forbidden, unless it was during one of those school dances wherein that sort of thing was expected.

Basically they had us believe that we all had cooties on any day except a day where there was a dance.

This is slightly off-topic, but a friend of mine and I decided to play tag during a school dance. We got caught and got kicked out, and sent to the room with the kids who didn't finish their assignments etc. and also couldn't go to the dance. It was a well-lit room with peace and quiet, and we played cards there. It was a lot more fun than any dance I've ever been to.

We're not allowed to wear any sort of hats. At all. As a result, my Yahtzee-esque trilby collects dust in my closet, unable to be worn.

My old high school had a rule where your shoulders weren't allowed to show. Their justification was that the bare flesh would be 'distracting'.

Also, no wristwatches.
What? Why? How the hell did they justify that one?
Haven't you seen GoldneEye? They could have lasers or something hidden in wristwatches!

Spelling mistakes probably. They don't want people misspelling Al-Qaeda or they might turn into hooligans or whatever old people call us crazy kids.

You're not allowed to wear hoodies and you have to wear a school ID every day. Neither of them are very well enforced by the teachers.
