Just because this whole thread is far too positive, and I like balance...
Surely with EULAs, DRM, and all the various copyright rules, we've had it drilled into us that we're not buying ANY game, merely renting the possibility of playing it until the owners of the game get bored.
Therefore as we've paid for the rights to play it, and not just 'bought a disc', responsibility to offer a reasonably priced replacement disc should lie with the company , not the customer. I don't mean the EA style 'if you damage your disc, send a copy of your reciept, cd key, and the disc, along with $20 to us, and we'll investigate your claim' - I mean show proof of purchase and the disc and get a new disc for $3 delivered.
However, despite my moaning, in this case, kudos to them for doing such a fine thing, above and beyond what I'd have hoped for
