Ok so I'm playing Skyrim and heading to the Whinterhold collage for better healing magic when suddenly I find a dog being attacked by wolfs. After killing the wolfs and healing the dog then I keep walking I suddenly relies...the dog is following me, I check and sure enuf i have a K9 companion now.
After a little fighting and making my way to Whinterhold i decided i didn't want the dog to die so I told it to go home after he whimpered and cried he finally set how and well....I felt like a dick to my dog.
Why is it in video games when you have a dog allie you become to invested in a thing that cant talk or act to you? Is it just because I'm a animal lover that i hate seeing my doggy get hurt? or am i just a massive pussy? I felt the same way about Rex in Fallout 3 and K9 in Vages and pretty much in any game with a Doggy allie next to me.

I do the same thing. Oh and with my horse. I killed the entire city guard because a misfired arrow killed my already wounded horse.

I now play with ai detection off while riding because I want the poor horse to live! A human can protect himself. But animals...well they're yours to protect.

Also...I like animals more than people, but that's just me. Is the dog's name Meeko? I just found him.

Oh, I am terrible about this. I get ridiculously attached to any ally, especially one with a furry face. It gets to the point where they are totally useless because I'm too afraid they'll die horribly if I let them roll with me, so I just keep them in my player home. It's like a really weird episode of Hoarders in there.
