Okay, I recently decided to do a partial rebuild of my computer.

What I need is a Mobo, CPU, Case, and Cooling system. Everything else will likely be transplanted from my current rig to the new one. Below is a list of requirements and current specs, if more info is needed let me know.

CPU: Currently running an AMD Phenom II X4 965 (3.40ghz), most likely switching to Intel
RAM: 2x 2gb Kingston DDR3, 667 MHz (DDR3 1333)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+
HDD: 1 TB Hitachi SATA 7200
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Budget: $1000

Right now I'm thinking this :

Case : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119160

COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Compucase Case with USB 3.0 and Black Interior

Mobo : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128494

GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K

I still have no idea for cooling systems. Any suggestions/changes? I do have some funds left in my budget if anyone thinks something else should be upgraded.

If I were you I'd save 40 bucks and go with the Antec 900. Appears to have better cooling than your cooler master anyhow and is very spacious as well:

As for your mobo and cpu I probably couldn't have picked them better myself.

For cooling I'd go with the Noctua NH-D14 but if that's too pricey then drop down to a Hyper 212+.

Although lately the 212+ has been priced at $50 on Newegg so I'd suggest finding it somewhere else for $30 or so.

You can also switch it out with a Corsair A70, which is around $46 on Newegg and is pretty much the same thing as a 212+ but with two fans and 8mm heatpipes.

I'd also recommend upgrading your GPU but that depends on what your budget is.

My budgets about 1k and others have suggested the GPU so I'll probably look into something there.

$1K for CPU, mobo, GPU, case and HSF?

The NH-D14 is one of the best aftermarket HSFs (#4 according to FrostyTech), and will let you overclock without any temp problems.

Went for a Z68 mobo so you can add in a small 20GB or so SSD and use SSD caching if you want. It's also x16/x8 so you can add in another 6970 down the road.

The case is a personal recommendation; it's mid tower but I'm assuming you're not using 10 drive bays.

I didn't know what PSU you had, so I added one that will be able to handle everything including the crossfired 6970s.

If you already have a good PSU, then I'd spend the extra $90 on some Gentle Typhoons or Yate Loons

I have a Silencer 610.
Ehhh, I think power-wise, maybe, but it only has two PCIe 6-pins, so if you plan to crossfire down the line (which I would really recommend) then I'd suggest upgrading the PSU.

In the interest of budget Ill probably just stick with what I have and upgrade when and if I need to.
