My nan had been diagnosed with lung cancer a year previously, but the main reason for quitting revolved around my fear of getting dry socket (I had just had 7 wisdom teeth removed) and later the realisation that if I started smoking again I'd only have to go through the palava of quitting somewhere down the line.
