Okay, we are all aware of the possible implications and the slippery slope that the SOPA can and probably will enable. However, spreading our disgust and finger-pointing around on the web isn't going to enlighten anyone with the power to actually do something. That being said, and I say this to the Escapist team as much as anyone on here with the ability to do so, why haven't we seen anti-SOPA donation funds set up to raise awareness OUTSIDE the internet of the implications of SOPA?
This only comes to mind because I remember the Escapist having a fundraiser to send Mr. Croshaw to PAX, while this is something which we might consider to be MONUMENTALLY more important...
I just figure that MAYBE an anti-SOPA television/radio campaign might have more impact than another forum thread. (I know, fuckin' irony, right? I'm well aware of it.)
So, would ANYONE here consider donating to an anti-SOPA campaign? I donate to VERY few causes, but this is a stupid American bill that will affect EVERYONE, even us here in poor lil Aus, and there's very little we can do about your lawmaking from here, so, any takers?
