Every-time I try my luck in my kitchen it comes out horribly wrong. I'm a beast at cooking eggs but other than that it all goes downhill from there. I continue to learn things that should be common sense by now, like not filling cupcake batter to the top or using marshmellow creme as frosting (as good as it sounds).

As I continue to slowly get better I wonder. Am I alone in my struggle to dominate the kitchen? Any funny stories? How good are you at cooking? If you've got pictures of awesome looking food you've seen online or made post it! I want to see it!

When I was little I once put honey in the microwave, ONCE.

Seriously don't do it. Shit's like a grenade, an incendiary grenade.

I'm actually a pretty good cook, because my parents (who are also good cooks) taught me how. But the thing about cooking is it's really difficult to learn without a teacher, because most cookbooks are aimed at people who already know how to cook, and even the ones that aren't are mostly made up of recipes -- which, as any good cook will tell you, are more guidelines than rules. Cooking is an art, not a science -- well, outside of baking, that is -- and cookbooks act like it's a science. They give you a list of steps, but don't explain what basic things like "salt and pepper to taste" or, for that matter, "brown hamburger in medium skillet" actually mean. And those basic things are important, let alone the complicated things that are written in the same sort of short hand.

So props to anyone doing it without help from a good cook. It's not an easy thing to do.

Don't worry, you'll get better at it.
My mum is a cook (brother was too at one point) so I was lucky enough to be taught how to make nice food. I suppose I could make a man very happy with being a good cook and then kicking his ass on the 360 lol.
I've turned my hand to baking recently. I just need to work on my presentation with my cakes and they should be a lot better. They still taste nice but I'd like them to look nice too.

Apparently your meant to take the beans out of their plastic containers when you put them in the mircowave. I think its an improvement really.

I set my hand and the oven mitt on fire once when i was just leaning across idly, it was well done actually.

I've managed to burn (or at least tinge) cereal as i like to heat the milk in the winter months and we were in power outage so i used the gas cooker.

I've learnt that every failed cooking adventure can be solved with enough cinnamon and basil if you really want it to.

I remember i was making ginger bread men and the mouths kinda cooked into an oval-y shape instead of a smile. Tasty, but tragic looking.

I always use too much sugar as well, i think it from my Weetabix days of smoothering something that is meant to be good for you in a mountain of sugar.

Oh and never buy something gluten-free. My experiences with it have always been tragic, it just kinda..falls apart.

And possibly the ONLY dish I can make...
