Escapist's,

It seems we have all witnessed the tragic events that have occurred in Japan due to a devastating natural disaster which has caused thousands of deaths and wiped off highly populated different sections of Japan. Its predictable that more deaths and another tsunami is to be on its way.

I thought I should ask you guys to take pride in helping Japan while it's in it's darkest days.

You can donate to the Red Cross using the links below.

Click here if you are located in America: American Red Cross [http://american.redcross.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ntld_main&s_src=RSG000000000&s_subsrc=RCO_ResponseStateSection]

Click here if you are from the United Kingdom: British Red Cross [http://www.redcross.org.uk/Donate-Now/Make-a-single-donation/Japan-Tsunami-Appeal]

For people in America you can text: REDCROSS to 90999, a donation of $10 will be made from your mobile phone/cell phone. (I'm not sure if this works for people outside of America)

Thank you all!

Sucks to be them but unfortunately I've gotta put myself first in this case.

Sorry Japan, I simply can't afford it.

Ahh, they're now taking donations at last.

I wish I could, I really wish I could, but I'm so poor this month :\

I suppose there's no harm in shooting them 10 bucks, alright, I'll go for it. To anyone who says they can't afford it: bullshit. Everyone can spare 10 bucks. Think of it as a small investment into a smug sense of moral superiority.

Japan have helped fund some of the other natural disasters which have affected other parts of the world, and I'll gladly return the favour. We have a group of British Red Cross volunteers down our street where I work so will pop out at lunch and make sure something gets donated (although lets be realistic, I am poor so will try and give something reasonable haha)

You obviously don't have your own house to run, bills, taxes, a toddler, prehaps a car which legaly needs insurance, petrol etc.

Well to be fair, the Japanese did commit unspeakable horrors to china during WW2. I understand the whole water under the bridge thing, but I don't believe Japan ever apoligized for it either. The don't even really aknowledge that it even happened if I recall. I'd probably be pretty bitter too in that situation and not eager to help.

OT: I'd donate, but unfortunately I'm broke. It's a good thing Japan prepares for this kind of thing.

I have all of that except the toddler. And my car is a van if you really wanna get picky, but Wi. does require insurance. If you have internet, that indicates that have disposable income. Unless you are genuinely living in a homeless shelter everyone can scrounge up 10 bucks.

Err... obviously I have an income, how else can I afford a child and a house :/ it's just my income isn't that big, but gets me by.

So I must not pay a bill one month and get chased up and into my invisible over-draft so I can donate?

My internet comes with my phone, if I had to pay for it seperatly and therefore a higher cost than can be afforded, I wouldn't have it.

Sorry but that £10 will be feeding my child this month. Next month though, I'm more than happy to help Japan. I think it's devastating what's happened.

(and if you want to get very picky and ask how can I have a PS3 and stuff - I had them before I moved home)

I wasn't specifically talking about you, I meant people in general. What you do with your finances is your business. I don't believe people should have to do anything with their money, I was just saying that when people say they would like to help but they can't afford to that's usually bull.

Like I said though, help or don't, it's clearly your call.

Poor Japan. I just hope that the Japanese government does their utter best to minimize the suffering and anticipation that they all must be feeling right now.

Not seeing the point of donating to Japan, honestly. Japan is in the top 5 of richest countries of the world, they don't need any donations.

Money they've got plenty, what we should do is send aid personel. Luckily, many governments are doing that already. I mean, really, this ain't no Pakistan or something we're talking about, this is Japan, the technological capital of the world.
