Don't be too quick to judge

Do you think that the things you like, are things that everybody should like? that they are superior in their field, in music, movies, games, style, sports, teams, cars, products, etc. anything that people can have a preference in, do you think that you're on the correct end of the spectrum?

People tend to be proud of things they like, if that thing should be insulted, the person himself can sometimes feel insulted. or if they're ridiculed for liking that thing. A defense against that would be to pick things that can't possibly be ridiculed, universal truths, those who would dare ridicule such things would themselves be ridiculed.

On the flipside, are there things that you like that you know isn't exactly in good taste. that you can understand why some people don't like it. like, say, pro wrestling, which i did enjoy for a few years but recognize it's all kinds of ridiculous and often panders its demographic.

No, that's just silly. If we all liked the exact same things our lives would be terribly boring, there'd be no competition and the human race would have died out years ago because of how goddamn lazy I am (and how much I like being so).

I don't think there is an objective definition of "good taste" to begin with but still, do I have "good" taste?. Probably not. Most people tell me I have shitty taste. I tend to shit on most people's opinions. So it all works out!.

OT: The thing is, I like the fact that I do some things that others don't, or do some things better. Same idea with what I don't do well, or at all.
I like being able to meet new people, and not just finding out about them, but finding out about whole new outlooks on life, whole new fields, hobbies, etc.

So... I guess that's my answer. People should be different, or things would either not work, or everything would work, but life would be, well...
Boring.

This. I can be elitist but only when it comes to practical things. Music, clothes and the rest of the bull that often gets thrown as assumption of taste is just arrogance and often ignorance. Oooo I paid for , yeah well who gives a flying crap. Your choices are your own to make. Sometime that gives you a bit of leeway to "educate others" but there is a fine line between recommending something and scorning them for their different tastes.
