It doesn't really matter. They aren't the revolutionary dev house they used to be. That is what happens when a studio goes from a group of gamers to a corporate environment. If they don't make it, it won't be a loss. I would rather somebody do with a newer engine, what was done with the Doom 3 engine, via mods. Namely, remake Ultimate Doom on it. OR better yet, make a new game based on that engine.

Everyone has moved on, they should too. That's not to say they won't ever make another fantastic game, but the only thing that is gonna happen with Doom 4 is that they will make a product that can't possibly compare to peoples expectations. I do have to say that it's disappointing they felt the need to mention their largest success stories on the box of a game that is nothing like them. It just feels like false advertising.

will this teach them to not endorse allways on DRM and cut single player content? ... probably not not alot of learning in the industry.
RAWR RAWR STEAMWORKS IS NOT UBIDRM RAWR RAWR.

Ahem.

While your concerns may be justified in that Steam's Offline Mode is decidedly flaky, at least it has an offline mode. With the worst level of UbiDRM and other always-on DRM, if you don't have a connection you can't even start the game. Lose connection during game? Booted back to the menu.

I wasnt refering to anything thats actually happened with ID or RAGE but one of the creators (I forget his name) publicly stated he thought allways on drm was a good thing.

Since Bethesda bought id. (Okay, it was ZeniMax that bought id, but ZeniMax was founded by the owners of Bethesda, so....)

I think I'm okay with this.
