SOmething that make me roll my eyes a little in the description...
""You?ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation?s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours. As the lone DOOM Marine, you?ve been activated to do one thing ? kill them all.
So in other word, you are like Master Chief now....
LAME!!!!!!
Where is my classic Doom Guy with his pet rabbit Daisy? Feeled with the desire to kill all the Demons of Hell for Revenge for killing it?
He didn't find out about Daisy until the end of the first game. He had plenty of motivation to kill demons before that.
Anyway, the similarities exist, but I don't think it's worth geting in a tizz about. Considering that some of the game's 'story' involves audio logs that pertain to the background of the marine, I'm guessing that in this continuity, he's some kind of augment/an artificial creation, or at least, different from the other smucks that get killed/possessed. Which, honestly, I'm fine with. In the context of the first game, we're supposed to believe that Doomguy can single-handedly take on Hell and win, while every other marine barely lasts 5 minutes (the same of which happens in every other game's 'story'). In Doom 3, things are a bit more realistic, but again, he isn't possessed for some...reason...and while he's not the only one who survives for an extended period of time, he's still the sole survivour at the end of the day (not going into the novelizations here). So far, the only reasons given are "badass" and "suspense of disbelief," so while I've swallowed it up till now, I'll give kudos for there being a context behind his survival.
