Max Dood's Review of Dark Ages
  • He likes the game overall. Considers it a strong 7-8/10.
  • Doesn't like the expanded level design nor secrets. Feels there is too much padding and prefers the linear corridors of the previous two games.
  • Finds the soundtrack the weakest of the trilogy, but not bad. Though doesn't reach the its full potential.
  • Finds weapon switching too slow.
  • Feels more like a Quake game, than a Doom game, but Max has no problems with this.
  • Still gives it a recommendation.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Feels more like a Quake game
It does feel like it wanted to start as a quake game then during development it became Doom. Especially with the more mythos feeling enemies. But the gameplay feels much more Doom then Quake so its probably best its a Doom game.

Cvit - Doom: The Mid Ages
  • Cvit found the game disappointing and underwhelming overall.
  • He likes some aspects of the combat, but parrying is too easy and epetitive even when you set it to the smallest window.
  • He doesn't like that most demons are either too brown or gray, in brown and gray environments.
  • This next one I really can't blame him as there's too much screen real estate when taking damage. I.E, you're already at low hell, so they make the screen right red with blood where you can't see anything and it flashes constantly. Before you're getting burned, and the flame effects are taking up the near entire screen. Cvit doesn't have epilepsy, and you can't imagine anybody who does trying to play this. Because it gave him a constant migraine.
  • The soundtrack he found underwhelming, though he gets why.
  • He doesn't like the mech sections and dragon sections and finds them boring.
  • Finding secrets is too easy and just a checklist work to him
  • The only other positives is that he actually lights the cut scene, and whenever doomed guy is doing something in them.
  • All of his points and arguments mentioned, he says people who love or enjoy this game, Cvit has no problem with it. They are right to do so, and he understands why, but none of Dark Ages mechanics or level design didn't work for him, and did not enjoy.
