So i have access to Dota2 and i am wondering if it will be able to survive when it releases because of League of Legends being as huge as it is (but the gameplay is VERY VERY different) and Heroes of Newearth being kindathere on the MOBA market.

From what i have seen Dota2 keeps the exact same gamplay than Dota (same as HoN at the same time) but made the store useable and have good recomended items and fixed several nasty bugs due to the WC3 engine.
For the moment the comunity is not bad (only got 1 bad mouth player after 20 or so games)

So tell me do you think Valve will be able to take a big chunk of the moba market?

People seem to be pretty much evangelical about dota 2, lol or hon. For me personally i have played alot of hon and alot of legue.

For it to be competitive it needs to be F2P (i'm not sure if it is or is not atm) you may find the community is good at the moment as its not open to the public and thus you will only get players that have moba experience and everyone is new to a degree to this moba so is on fairly level pegging.

Personally i don't think you will get mass migration from hon or legue i think if its a good game and fresh people will play it. Also don't forget with the micro transactions some people have got alot of money/time invested in these F2P titles (i guess why some get evangelical about it).

Anyways do i think it will take a chunk of the moba market? sure why not its the daddy of moba games so alot of old bloods will return and alot of curious new bloods will play to see where it all began.

Seeing as Dota was popular with millions of Asians and Europeans, I'm sure it will survive.

And please stop calling it a MOBA.

What would you call it then? its kinda hard to pin it down to a genre and by calling it that people generally know what your on about straight away.

HoN is slightly better balanced (and that is not saying much because HoN's balance is complete shit). Also, Dota 2 has command delays which are ridiculous, but they will improve. Overall it comes down to which balancing and which artstyle you prefer, or whether you are a sheep and stick your tongue out for whatever Valve throws your way.

LoL is just terrible.

It's in a closed beta phase. We will see how Dota 2 does when it's released as a full game.

I'm sorry but a beta should be when they most frequently update a game is it not? Thats the whole point of a beta.
Patches come when they are ready. Valve doesn't have to cater to your definition of supporting a game through frequent updates.
