Dragon Age 2 Dialogue - Does it fall flat?

Haha, ok good, someone else picked up on this weakness.
The voice acting was really bland, the lip-synching animations haven't improved much, and the new dialogue wheel is kind of cheesy. The UI looks like something out of a Sims game.

Female Hawke was a big disappointment so far, as well.

The only negative observation Ive made since everybody started talking about DA2 was its characters. For a start, theres no way any character DA2 throws at us will be as entertaining and loveable as the ´characters from the first game. Each was a well developed work of art of its own. Perhaps not so much for Leliana but she looked good atleast.

I just have feeling now that almost every character in DA2 will be as flat as a door mat. assissted ofcourse by the already predicted bad dialogue.

That's quite a big assumption when you've only met these characters for less than an hour =)

On topic though, I'm mostly curious how it'll work on the bigger decisions, and if it will claim that my decisions are 'evil' for siding with one group over another...

Dialogue wheel and voiced character is what hurts me the most. Dragon Age Origins was perfect because it had a mute character and a very complex dialogue system which allowed for a huge number of possibilities and choices. DA2 simply can't have that because of the dialogue wheel and voice character. See, a voiced character always has his own personality no matter which choices you make. A mute character in an RPG has your personality.

Did anyone else notice that in the Demo in areas where there was an echo in the dialog (like the interrogated dwarf and orlesian templar.) That the echo would cut off suddenly after their line. It was really weird and kept pulling me out.

I can't specifically remember that sound problem, were you playing the PC version? Cause the PC version has a lot of weird sound problems, the developers said they've fixed all the ones they were able to find for the release version of the game.

I played the demo on PC. I watched my wife play it on PS3 (looks like we'll be buying two copies of this game again :-\) and the exact same problem occurred. It's really slight but once you hear it... you can't un-hear it.

No character creation customisation ... blank uninteresting main character in lieu of that ... uninteractive movie approach ... what happened to the Devs that wrote as deep a game as Baldur's Gate 2?

I'm pretty sure the demo was more Bioware saying "Hey guys the combat is now fucking awesome with no shuffling at all!" Since every gamer and their dog has been moaning about it since the (fucking awesome) changes were announced.

Besides expecting Bioware to put any of the more gripping dialogue in the DEMO is asking a bit much imo

I hate to admit it, but the demo was fun. At least the combat was.
The Mass Effect wheel felt weak though. When I first played it I thought all the lines of dialogue felt very short and abruptly cut off.
Turns out, from some of the leaks that Dragon Age 2 allegedly only has 1/5 of the dialogue of Dragon age Origins, but double the number of cutscenes. The post was on the Bioware Social forums and had the actual numbers but it seems the site has crashed at the moment.

Either way, I think I'll still get the game...on principle I would rather not, but I have a weakness for Bioware games.
I got 80 hours of solid fun out of Origins. Although DA2 is supposedly only half that (From the Devs themselves), 40 hours is still better then 95% of games out there.

I don't know, I quite enj[sub]loading...[/sub]oyed the demo. The con[sub]loading...[/sub]versations still have the same pro[sub]loading...[/sub]blems as the Mass Effect games. But its be[sub]loading...[/sub]tter in the sense that I know how my character is go[sub]loading[/sub]ing to say something.

I just wish I knew exa[sub]loading...[/sub]ctly what he was going to say, rather then having to guess at what he's go[sub]loading[/sub]ing to say. Which is more of a pain in the ass than a sil[sub]loading...[/sub]ent protagonist. At least with the silent guy I could prete[sub]loading...[/sub]nd that he sounded like Patrick Stewart. Plus it allowed for more humorous an[sub]loading[/sub]swers.
