The game apparently spans 10 years of in-game time. And I'm going to guess that each year is 5-10 hours of playtime. Give or take.

So that would add up to roughly... 50-100 hours.

Thats what I'd guess anyway.

Have you seen gameplay demos? The combat looks pretty much the same.
The major changes have to do with the semi-predefined character (dialogue included here), the leveling (I've seen the new skill tree, but not in great detail. I know it is different, but don't assume that means shallow), and the story (set over many years, not the typical BioWare epic).

There are also race redesigns. Elves, Dwarves, and Qunari looked like humans in Origins (pointy-eared humans, short fat humans, tall and brawny humans). They're making them look more unique and fantastical. It is fantasy, after all.

The first one took me 70 hours to beat, I'm not expecting 2 to be that long, but I'd at least wager 40 hours.

50 - 100 hours gameplay?

Lets not forget the cutscenes alone in total weigh up around 103 minutes. I think 50 hours is pushing it to be honest.

I wish they hadn't even announced that, as it wasn't newsworthy. A total of 103 minutes of cutscene isn't much for games these days. Dragon Age Origins probably had at least 40 minutes in a given playthrough, but was spread out so much that you didn't really notice (and not all of it could be seen in a single playthrough). The 103 minutes will similarly be the total of all the cutscenes in the game (again not all viewable in a single playthrough). It will probably be a long cutscene at the beginning and end with 1-3 minute bits in between.

I'd bet 25-35 hours. The last game could take you 40+ hours, but from my circle of friends most of them burned through the game in much shorter amounts of time.

So, just from a design perspective it wouldn't make as much sense to put that volume of content in when people are just skipping past it - My guess is that extra time will be made up in DLC...as they can just monetize that kind of stuff instead of giving it to us for free. That's just me being cynical though - I hope it's at least as long as the last game....I just really hope they open up the world a little more (Fewer loading screens pls!), and making micromanaging less required to play the game on harder difficulties.

For me I suppose it depends upon re playability. I'm going to guess between 30 and 40 hours first playthrough.

Undoubtedly they will have an annoyingly long segment like the Deep Roads that will add a good 5 hours alone onto that.

Hours aren't what I judge quality on, however. It could be a ten hour game and I'd be happy as long as everything else blew me away.

Mass effect 2 took me 30 hours, and DAO took about 25, so my guess it will be around that number. Not that it matters that much. Just as long it'sas good as the first one.
