I've just played the demo for the second game in order to get myself familiar with all the changes and all I could notice was that there were giant tits everywhere.

Now I'm not averse to large breasts, but to have them in every single scene and on every single female character is a bit much. Even Flemmeth now has a sturdy DD going and Isabella is 25% of Isabella is her boobs alone. It's to the point where it's just distracting.

I don't know why but I expected a bit more class from BioWare.
2 questions, is the demo on PS3 and does the demo take place in the games beginning or in the middle of the game

I'm a hetero chick and even I was distracted by Isabela's breasts. I mean, good Lord. They take up like half the screen!

I laughed when I saw Isabella in the demo. It'll be hard to take that character seriously.

I suppose this wouldn't be too bad if several other woman depicted in the game were different sizes...but somehow, I doubt that will ll be the case.

I don't care, I just hope they fixed they shitty code. My PC's load times got longer and longer every time I tried to go somewhere new, and I wasn't the only person with this problem. By the end of the game I could make a sandwich, eat it and come back in time to be attacked by bandits.

I hate buying shit that devours my precious gaming time without letting me actually play.

Hell, I'm not complaining.

And to those strange people that don't like boobs - at least it ain't Soul Calibur.

Now can we please stop complaining about tits? Seriously guys it's just getting silly.
I think that's the point though. Hollywood and by extension, the gaming industry either cannot or refuses to give us female (and for that matter, male!) characters with realistic or even average proportions, except in a small minority of cases.

Sure, I love tits. You love tits. We all love tits, but do they always need to be gargantuan? Does the female character always need to be long legged, thin waisted, huge chested and beautiful? It really shows a lack of imagination, imo.

Actually the point I was making is that every time a game comes out that may feature breasts there's this big uproar on forums about how it's unrealistic and over-sexualizing. It's like there's no middle ground between pocket-mining teenagers and the sexually repressed.

Personally I like large breasts, I like looking at attractive characters. But I like a good story more and if a game can deliver that they can make the breasts whatever size they like, I don't care. We're really fixating on the wrong parts here.

I think diversity in game characters will come in time. I'd love to see some female characters with a wider wasteline, I'd love to see male characters that were thinner and less muscular. I think eventually we'll get there but it won't be because we complained about tits on the internet it will be because it fits in the narrative of the story and because the developer actually believes that what matters to players is a characters personality. Right now we aren't showing that, we're showing that what matters is a woman's cup size.
Well, I think the reason that there's always an uproar is because the breasts are always big, pronounced and unrealistic. And Hollywood and the game industry don't or won't give us a middle ground! There's either hugely over-sexualized or skinny androgynous female characters. Because the industry focusses so much on the look of a character, we're forced to as well. Just once I'd like to see a tough female character that doesn't have to be gorgeous or big titted. Actually, Uncharted has a pretty good female character in Elena.

I also totally disagree that in time we'll be treated to diversity, especially if Hollywood is any indicator. And unfortunately, Hollywood and video games are uncomfortably close. Sure, there'll always be a minority of characters that appeal to us in a relatable or average way, but I do admit that video games are about fantasy and sometimes it's fun to play these hyper-stylistic archetypes and step outside of normality.

I agree that developers need to believe that what matters is personality and not cup size, but they don't yet and part of that reason is because the audience for games is the same one that reads comic books, watches movies and tv and is already demands the cookie cutter characters we're given.

Frankly I'm resolved to being one of the person that is not entertained by entertainment geared towards the LCD and will always be seeking out the original, niche, indie, less popular products in media.
Who are these big breasted women in Hollywood? For films and TV, they always seem to be cut from the skinny mold which makes any sign of cleavage seem bigger than it actually is. I cannot remember the last time I saw a female in a main role with bigger than C cup. Certainly not as huge as we get in games anyway....

The cleavage didn't seem that ridiculous.

This! I think the breast size for the characters so far seems very indicative of their personality traits, in all honesty. Isabella's breasts are the largest - but she's highly sexual without being sexualised. Her breasts are the only thing that really makes her stand out sexually. She's not running around in panties or a gimp suit. FemHawke's breasts are average to slightly above average because i like to think Bioware want to give the player the choice whether or not they protray Hawke as being as seuxal as Isabella or as conservative as... well, Bethany, perhaps? And just look at Merill; i'm willing to bet she's very much the "shy if a bit naive" type. Like Leliana, but without so much openness regarding love and sexuality. Her modest breasts are there to symbolise the fact she's almost like a delicate flower - aided in no small part by her elven figure.

I didn't the breast sizes being an issue in Dragon Age 2. I thought they were suitable for each character portrayed. Whether Bioware will remain classy about it through the entire game, however, remains to be seen.

You know how things are exaggerated in Varric's first telling of the story? That includes breasts...

Look at the video at 3:33 and then at 9:32.

My God! They're huge!

Yeah, so maybe Bioware overdid it a bit this time. Not that it matters; I won't be getting DA2, just giving my opinion.

I also noticed that. Unfortunately, unless they are nude, it has no point. Deleted the game after 10 mins anyway; can't stand any oversized health bars anymore.

Wow People still taking the line that all the female chars are HUMONGOBOOBED! even after someone has posted visual proof that what you are saying is absolute bullshit of the highest order, about on par with Fox news.

and even before that was posted it took me about 25 seconds to google up some comparative images and a few more minutes to play around further into the demo and see that it clearly wasn't true.

I sense a great many internet white knights and one woman who seems bitter about DA:O not fulfilling her lesbian gaming niche* but little of actual substance, again if this is all you can pick out as a fault for the game....well done Bioware.

*Caiti Voltaire not intended as an insult or a flame but that really stuck out to me, you honestly bought and then panned the game on the basis of the NPC romance storyline...?
tbh I followed DA:O through is dev cycle I dont recall there being a great emphasis on the fact that Leiliana and Zevran were bisexual, although I'll admit there was a marketing focus on the OMG SEXORS aspect and I liked the fact I could play as a male gay warden. I loved Zev's story line.

/edit, also the "is your fruit forbidden" line made me spit coffee on my keyboard for some reason, right up there with "no one can resist the dwarf" :)

i think it's pretty easy to start rattling off female media personalities of past and present who have been famous and big breasted:

Pam Anderson
Christina Hendrickson
Scarlett Johansson
Jessica Simpson
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Salma Hayek...

not to mention the women who've felt they needed to get implants, like

Tori Spelling
Tara Reid
Christina Aguilera

shall I go on? And these are just "famous" people, not the thousands of struggling and less well known actresses with large breasts or implants.

If you don't think Hollywood and by extension the public doesn't have a fascination with large breasts, you've been living under a rock.

Okay, I would agree that Isabela's are a little on the large side, but look:

Female Hawke's are an average sort of size.

Excluding the exaggerated part at the very beginning of the demo, Bethany's are also average.

Aveline looks pretty reasonable to me.

And finally:

Not the best picture, but Merill is kinda on the flat-chested side of the spectrum.
Y'know what people say about her? "OMG PEDO BAIT". It's quite sad, really.

Anyway, my point is, not "every single female character" has a massive bosom, and those that do... there are massive bosoms in real life, you know. Aside from that, it's probably not a good idea to judge the cast of Dragon Age 2 based on a short demo.

Don't get me wrong, as a woman, I find it incredibly frustrating when female characters are over sexualised or ridiculously proportioned, but all of these characters look reasonable to me and Isabela is a very sexual character to start with, she plays up to it. At the end of the day I've not got any complaints and to be honest, the models look a heck of a lot better than they did in Dragon Age: Origins. At least there's some variation now, instead of them all looking big-shouldered and identical.
Not bad, but I wonder if there's a slightly pudgy/ Homely girl to balance out the cast. It seems that they're all in the "long slender legs/athletic" build at least to an extent.

Just sayin, it's ONE woman in a guy's retelling of a story where he lied and made it up. It looks like the girls are all over the spectrum when it comes to actual size when played.

Now if we start seeing women with love handles...

Ah, I was honestly basing my assumption on what was seen in the video. I really haven't been looking into screenshots or videos of the game at all.

And the Maker created a woman. And he said "Let her endowments be of amazing proportions and not decrease in size even through excercise or starvation. Let them always be firm and perky regardless of age or sickness. And let all the construction workers upon seeing such woman exclaim with joy:
"YOWHZA BABY!! Look at that pair!!! You lookin for a good time? WOOF WOOF!"

As written in the chant so it was.

Hail the Maker

I don't even agree that all the people you mention have big breasts. Except those that have had implants or Christina. And those like JLH only look like they are well endowed due to being skinny, so any curves they have look more impressive than they actual are. They have nothing on the physics beating curves of video game characters.

Jennifer Connelly used to be well endowed when younger, until see have to chase recent leading roles by dieting her endowment out of existence. Now she has the standard Hollywood female physique

More curves please Hollywood. More with Christina Hendrickson physiques in some main roles would be great.

Was it really overly busty? Playing through the demo there were about 6 female characters. 3 were quite flat-chested, 2 were somewhat large of bust and 1 was flabbergastingly well-endowed. I don't see the problem if there is a variety to chest size (as there would be in real life) rather than everyone having epic boobs, which would stink of pandering and fan-service.
