Thankfully only a CD-check, no online authentication required. No securom!

Not really, I mean I remember buying a game, only to have the number of installs limited to 1.

When I formated my PC, went to re install it, it asked me to ring them up, so I did and they said that I was using an illegal copy.

And pirates don't care about copy protections, because someone will get a way around it.

Not true. I make a point of removing all copy protections from any retail games I buy.

I'm not having that crap causing problems all over my system, and running in areas it really shouldn't have access to. CD checks are fine, but when they go as deep as driver level, they can cause huge problems if they malfunction causing bad system instability.

Anyone who remembers the problems starforce caused will know how bad certain DRM systems can fuck your system over in a big way.

Interpretation: EA have found some DRM software that is even worse than SecuROM. This software will wipe hard disks randomly and report you to the police for crimes that it is feasible that someone like you may have committed. Enjoy!

Pirates get to play all the games for free and without copy protection, because all the copy protection methods tried so far have failed (single player only, multiplayer is a different kettle of fish).

It annoys me that when I pay good money for something, they tell me its limited or restricted in some way. It's like when you buy a DVD and theres the anti-piracy message at the beginning, it feels like its only function is to get in the way of me enjoying the film that I paid for.

Woohoo! Not annoying DRM. Guess i'm going to have to see what's Dragon Age and buy it when it's released.

That's good to hear. I absolutely hated how I was locked out of playing my Far Cry 2 and Spore back when I was waiting for my ISP to activate my Internet connection.

woot good news, was about to post veto. this game looks pretty meh really but no other rpg's coming out soon.

I've only ever been tempted to pirate BECAUSE of this drm bollocks. a legit copy of a game like gta, have to sign into several programs and check cd to use. pirate version I just click on a icon and play.

love games like cod4 where I can buy it and play without cd.

Well, this is good - if they did have securom I'd have pirated it because I have a "no bullshit on my PC" policy. Since they're only putting a cd key check, all I'll need is a no-cd exe after I've bought the game.

Good news for a change, saves me the trouble of spending hours finding removal tools.
